I just got to give props to that little rifle. It shoots the hell out of the 150grain Sierra BT/Big Game combo. The 165 BT load work is also coming along well with Big Game.
Today with 3-9x left side center.

I had one in 223 that I wish I still had. Stupid decisions.......

If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.

+1 that was a rifle designed to inflict pain on the user.

Paulh- I've had a .30-40 #3 for thirty years. I shoot cast bullets in it 98% of the time, but it does very well with jacketed also. Some time back, I tried some of the "heavy loads for Ruger only" data in Hodgdon #25. These are roughly .308 Winchester loads.

As I recall, accuracy was good, but recoil quickly became the limiting factor. Nevertheless, still more comfortable
than even moderate loads in my #3 .45-70.
