Maybe. I don't recall seeing too many .270WCFs in an AR platform--and the "tacticool" crowd is quickly becoming the decision makers of the market. Of course if you are including the 6.8SPC I might agree with you but I seriously doubt that was the intent of your comment.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that.

That is just one more appeal to the short action rounds. They will fit in the extremely popular autos that dominate the market and not just bolts actions. The 6.5 Creed is a perfect example of this. To ignore that would be stupid.

It may not be my thing...but I recognize it for what it is and the manufacturers that want to cash in on the craze are paying attention as well.

I really respect the 260 Remington! I currently have a Model Seven (with the 1-9" rifling) and the barrel is not too accurate. I am sending it to E. R. Shaw for a new barrel in 1-8" in a few days - hopefully then the accuracy will be at a proper level to match the ballistic promise of the cartridge.

All things equal (barrel, bedding, ammo, etc.), the 260 should perform as well as the 6.5 CM. My decision to re-barrel to 260 in lieu of the 6.5 CM is heavily influenced by the fact that I have dies and over 1,000 260 cases. If the situation were not so biased to the 260 Rem by virtue of the dies and cases-on-hand, I might go for the 6.5 CM.

If you're strictly a <400 yard deer hunter who shoots a box of rounds a year... then the .270 is your huckleberry... but so is the .308.... or the '06.... or the .243 for that matter....

If you like to shoot a lot.... like to play in the reindeer gun games... like to bang LR steel/vermin... like 25% less recoil.... like .550+ BC bullets... like short action rifles... etc. Then the .260 or Creed make a lot of sense.

No deer inside of sane ranges will ever know the difference between a .264/130 and a .277/130....

The 270 truly is a 400 laser beam of death.

Might not a sniper round but will always be in the top 3 all-time for pure deadliness on sub 420 yard deer.....

Or a 260...

I do like the 84M over the 84L. Little shorter and feeds way slicker. My 270 isn't quite as silky smooth, which makes no sense.

No denying it works very well for that.

And yeah you'd think that a longer (more gradual) feeding would be smoother, at least at face value. Weird.

God was gazing down at his latest creation(Earth...) and thought to himself.....

I wonder when Tikka will make a Creed in the Lite version?

I bet Creed will be in Tikkas next year (already in CTRs) because it's all the rage and American shooters are hot for the cartridge.

Buddy at work got a Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creed recently and it's his first bolt gun ever. He's used a .30/30 lever since the early '80s.

Part of reason is there's about Dozen 6.5
loads available at LGS and only 4-5 .260s.

In a different thread said I'm bout to get my grandson a RAR Ranch 5.56 for his first CF, but I'd be all over a SS Threaded Compact RAR in Creed instead if they offered one...

Perhaps when I get my hands on a 260 which will actually group, instead of pattern I will feel different.

But when when when the range exceeds 300 yds on 200 pound plus deer, I will reach for my 264 with a 130 at 3300 fps, or perhaps a 270 with a 130 at 3100 fps, rather than a 260 with a 120 at 2900 fps.

No, the deer won't know the difference. But I sure know the difference in trajectory.

As to the 260 which will group, I have high hopes for the Kreiger 8 twist tube in the works.

My only experience with the 260 Rem started out bad and turned into a favourite rifle.
A brand new 700 Ti in 260 would not shoot very well at all so after a thorough bore scoping
It was concluded that there were in fact ripples in the rifling causing shotgun patterns instead of tight groups,
Since I'm always looking to make another wildcat it was decided to go with a 270 / 08
A good move since I have literally thousands of 270 bullets and no 270.

And there dumb as it sounds is the extent of my 260 experience..
