Dunno, but I just took delivery of a Nikon Monarch 5 8 x 56 bino and it is outstanding. Very pleased with every aspect of the glass. Order one of each from Amazon and then return the one you don't like. (They have a liberal return policy). The Monarch 5 has ED glass, dialectric prisms, is fully multi-coated and nitrogen purged. Have you looked at the Doctor Optic binos? They are also outstanding. They have a 10 x 42, 8 x 42 and 5 x 56 with ED glass that are very, very good. The 8 x 56 has Abbe Koenig prisms.

Communists: I still hate them even after they changed their name to "liberals".

I have a Monarch 7 10x42 and love them. Don;t know why you would need a pair of them though, one binocular generally is sufficient.

I have been using Nikon's MONARCH 7 8x30's since Feb.. I just put them up and grabbed my MONARCH 7 10x42's to start scouting for deer season. ED glass is incredibly clear and so is the price for what you get. Nikon's warranty is second to none as well, drop the bino's out of a tree stand, back of a Ranger or pick-up, Nikon will take care of you. Here's a nice card Nikon put together to help show the differences between the MONARCH Series of binoculars. THe MONARCH 3-5-7's 10x42 are all $50 off right now when you buy from an authorized Nikon dealer. Check out the fire's sponsors to get the discount.
