Just because the mornings are getting crisp, and I am excited to finally shoot a deer without ear-pro or exacerbating my tinnitus.

Pic taken on my meat freezer for good luck.

That is a Ruger American Ranch in 300BO. I shoot supersonic for hunting deer, but it isn't loud. Mouse farts with subsonic.

Nice looking setup Goalie. Good luck with it, buddy. How's hockey going? Bet you're busy with the nurses strike and everything.

Just a heads up anybody deer hunting by Longville or by there. Might want to check deer stands. Was up this last weekend and WOW it was bad. Never seen so many trees down in my life. All of our deer stands need repair, need to chainsaw the trails back open as well. 2 of my trail cameras got destroyed. Water is way up as well, one stand i checked on i thought i was down in the Bayou.Jumping from one bog to another bog. Was on high alert for swamp squids.Water went over thee old rubber boots. I was that guy that dumped a gallon of water out of my boots.

So just a heads up to anybody that hunts that area. I think hunters who just show up for deer opener where we hunt. Will be in for a surprise.

That happened to us where we used to hunt near Park Falls, WI. Tornado knocked out a mile square of the Nat Forest. We were able to saw in a mile. I think I got a spike buck that year and was the only one that did in our crew.

The mini and I headed up to our WI camp yesterday to check trail cams and swat birds. We only saw one bird and didn't get it.

The trail cams were something else tho! LOTS of deer pics. buck, does, fawns. There were bears, raccoons, rabbits. If I can ever get my slow ass computer to load pics I'll put some on here.

Nice Tom !!

Yeah, it's wet as heck here too. Went in to check things in the Tamarac swamp, last weekend. Swamp is not a good present description. Think tropical rain forest ! MOSQUITOS too.

Need it to FREEZE !

grin

Joe and I took "the dry route" to my deer stand yesterday, the dry route is wet, the wet route is a lake.

I take a big half circle route. From the gate I walk out to the first really sharp curve and keep walking in straight, back in towards my ground blind, I then pick up your old trail to your ground blind. I keep going past your ground blind and it's not too much farther to my stand from there.

I will likely reserve that stand for cold temps this year, I believe I will try to branch out a little further from camp this year, try some new spots.

Is my ground blind still standing? is it cutting you off? I was thinking of redoing it? I can move it too.

There is a spot I found last year I'd like to check out. Across the road, where we ride wheelers. Nate and I looked at it before too. Probably a mile, mile and a half off the forest rd.

It is much the same in this neck of the woods as far as downed trees. We had a couple of storms that laid a lot of trees down. You will want to have a chain saw with you here when you venture back in the woods.....
