Not much chatter here on the Fire about this pistol.
Along with the Walther PPQ, this is a newer polymer, striker fired pistol.

I decided to make a move on one and thus far it has impressed me in everyway. SO much so that I sold my G19. Partially because the G19 was always too small for my hand, the pinky anyway and the VP9 is kinda in between the G17 and G19 in size. The ergonomics and feel of the pistol in the hand are far superior to the "block" feel of the glock. By the way, I love my glock 42, so no anti-glock bias here.

What ive learned through the 1st couple hundred rounds is:

-its pretty damn accurate
-the trigger is better than any factory glock, shield trigger
-the walther PPQ still has the best stock trigger Ive ever played with
-It has fed and extracted everything Ive thrown into it, both cheap FMJ and defense ammo
-it has the european style mag release which I actually like
-its disassembled without touching the trigger, unlike glock
-came with 2 15 round mags and there are magazine extension options available including +1, +2, +3, +4, +5, and +15.
-the grip has small, medium, large panels for both sides and the backstrap, making it the most customizable factory grip I am aware of
-the guide rod is steel, not plastic like glock as are the sights
-they also make a VP40 for you 40cal fans

The gun really isnt much more than a glock, I got mine for 550$.

Anyone else have one or shot one?

One of my best friends and shooting buddies is chief of police in a small town. It was time for new sidearms and he researched forever, trying out most everything. He went with the VP9. I got to shoot it when he was researching and I was impressed. One reason he chose it was the ability to change the grips.

Nothing wrong with them at all. I can't keep track of all their different models anymore.

How is the bore-axis on that model?

Glocks trade in program is tough to compete with, if they still offer it.

I'm waiting patiently for the compact version. It may replace my Glocks as my primary carry.

Sako,

I was looking at one of these in a local shop for $595. It was for my teenage boy who has smaller hands... the ergonomics plus the ability to change out the individual (right & left side) grip panels was a plus. The reviews looked good but led me to the PPQ M2, which my boy preferred due to the ergo's, button mag. release & trigger. He's happy with the PPQ, I'm sure neither would have been a bad choice.

I'm not much of a 9mm Guy, but doubt my G19 will be going down the road.

I love mine. Ergonomics are fantastic, I like my Sigg 320 just a tad bit more ergonomically. So far it has been bulletproof for me about 400 rounds no issue eats everything I throw into it. Very accurate and the trigger is fantastic. Mags are a little expensive, The gun is not going anywhere so I picked up eight extra mags. I did extensive work to my Glock 19 grip and it still does not feel as comfortable as my vp9 or my Sig 320. My 19 has never failed me and mags are cheap.

I have the original PPQ that came out with the Euro style mag release. I like it fine. Shoots about like a Glock 19. Reliable and well made. Carries about like the Glock 19, too. Some say the trigger is better than the Glock's due to the shorter reset. I shoot them both about the same.

PS Currently, my PPQ is with my mom, since she recently, due to being elderly, lost her ability to pull the trigger on her double action revolver.

The Glock wins out by a mile, however, when it comes to aftermarket parts and accessories.
