Anyone have hands on feedback on current production LH model 700 rifles?
I haven't quite decided between the SPS or CDL so information on either would be welcome.

I have a LH CDL in .270W. Replaced the trigger, bedded the action, recrowned the barrel and trued the bolt. Now it shoot almost as well as my Tikka T3 Lite .270 did out of the box with no mods.
Imagine a corporate oligarchy so effective, so advanced and fine tuned that its citizens still call it a democracy.

Tikkas have been the easiest guns to get dialed in that I have ever used. The triggers out of the box are far better than Remington. I can't see myself ever buying a new Remington, and a boatload of them have passed through my hands in the last 40 years.
A .300 Win in a might be snappier than I would want in a Tikka, however. If you don't mind me asking, how does a guy in FL plan to use a .300? End-to-end shots on a python?

Wasn’t going to weigh in on new Remingtons because I haven’t bought one for several years, but my sentiments reflect yours. Unless a LH short action M700 BDL falls into my hands* I’d buy a new Tikka any day of the week over any new Remington. For a comparable or slightly less cost than a new CDL you can get a rifle that right out of the box will have an absolutely superb 3 pound trigger - which a half twist of an allen key will turn into a superb 2 1/2 pound trigger - and will shoot better than all of the factory Remingtons I’ve ever owned and will also shoot just as well as the Remingtons I’ve had trued and rebarreled with expensive aftermarket barrels.
The Remington 700 is a tried and true rifle and I know what to expect of them and where their gotchas may lie. If someone wants one as a donor to build a nice custom on then they are still a good starting point. Now I only own two Tikka T3’s compared to having owned somewhere between two and three dozen Model 700’s, but I am sold on them. I have never, ever had rifles shoot in the .2’s and .3’s right out of the box like both Tikkas are doing. That's on top of that trigger and super smooth bolt throw and feeding. Oh, and they both shoot several loads to pretty much the same POI.
*and which I would rebarrel to a 6.5 Creedmoor before even shooting it. Until such time as Tikka chambers the 6.5 CM, then I wouldn't get the Remington.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I am in the market for a Tikka. I hope to have a couple trips to Alaska as my kids just moved to Kodiak Ak. True, the largest thing in Florida to shoot are pythons.

My brand new lh youth 243 700 is shooting quite well. Using 105 HPBTs only so far, many sub moa groups with it. Going to try some 70 grain ballistic tips for coyote duty shortly. Trigger is crisp but pretty heavy. Need to work on that still.
Never liked the Tikkas I handled and shot over the years. Everyone has different tastes but I see no need to avoid new 700s at this point.

I've been happy with the Remingtons I've had. Currently hunting with an XCR I picked up a few years ago. I did have the X trigger lightened but other than that it shoot Barnes 130s into an 1-1.25" group and for hunting that's good enough for me.
