I want to put a Sig ROMEO or other tactical dot sight on my 45 Colt BH Hunter. I do not want to use the Weig-a-Tinny adapter.

Anyone come up with a direct mount system?

I would go with an Ultradot and Ruger rings......

Will the Ultradot stand up to the recoil of heavy 300 grain loads?

The Ultradot will hold up to those loads. I had a 30mm Ultradot on a Ruger Super Redhawk 480 in the Ruger rings, running hot 385gr loads. No problems from the Ultradot.

One thing I like about the Ultradots is that they less expensive than most of the "tactical" red dots on the market, despite being tougher and more reliable than most of the Chinese-built red dots being sold, regardless of what brand-logo they carry.

The Ultradots have a good reputation withe the NRA Bullseye pistol shooters and they are putting thousands of rounds of .45 through them a year. I wouldn't hesitate putting one on my .44 mag BH Hunter, but the Nikon 1-4 that is on there works fine too. And is paid for.

I have one on my Redhawk, but I haven't shot it enough to say anything about its' durability.

My Ultradot has seen about 500 full power loads through my 460 S&W without issue.

Whitworth1`has had an Ultra Dot 30 on his Ruger 454 Casull for thousands of full power loads, and he's dropped it twice from tall tree stands. Never moved...rock-solid zero. Any red dot or scope that can take that kind of abuse and keep on functioning is a damn good deal. He's even puked a set of rings with it in the rings. He just bought the Ruger rings, remounted the Ultra Dot 30 and rocked on.
