I'm sorry I don't have a picture, but I have an 1851 Navy Colt that came down through the family, supposedly carried in combat during the Civil War by my Great or Great Great (?) Uncle who I'm named after. He was killed in action, shot out of the saddle by a Reb sniper.
Another "cool factor" thing I have is a pair of Nazi Ziess binoculars my dad brought back from Italy. Dad served under General Patton. As the story goes, Dad's unit was being held up by a Nazi pill box guarding a choke point they needed to clear. They finally were able to knock it out, and dad took these binoculars off a German officer who'd been killed in the action. Dad said at the time, the German "glass" was the best available and highly prized by our guys. The binoculars are still sealed, don't fog, and are fully useable.

Not the oldest but pretty cool gun anyways. Late 1930s Savage 99 "Salesman Sample" with a Lyman 15X with premier ret. The holes for the target blocks are original. Same with sling swivels.

a trapdoor passed down from my grandfather, whose serial number turns up on a hand written list of guns rounded up by the 7th Cavalry after the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and sent in for repair. Hole Lee Fguk. That is UBE. Dave No kidding, I'd like to see more of that one.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

Not all that old, but the first rifle I ever bought: a 1961-vintage Model 70 Fwt in .30-06, purchased the summer I graduated high school. I literally wore it out, using it for all the hunting I did for over 20 years, not to mention collecting several hundred animals for wildlife studies. About 24 years ago, a stock maker friend sold me a couple of nice walnut blanks, and he used one to carve out a nice classic stock for this rifle. With some polish and tweaking, along with a new blue job, some new life was breathed into it. I just finished sighting it in today with some 180-grain Partitions, and a new (to me) Leupold FX-II 6x36, and it will go to elk camp with me again for the first time in about 23 or 24 years.

a trapdoor passed down from my grandfather, whose serial number turns up on a hand written list of guns rounded up by Captain Jackson of the 7th Cavalry after the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and sent in for repair. verified by a letter from the Springfield Research Service. toad; Thanks for sharing that one - as Travis said, that one is indeed Über². I don't have a photo of the shotgun my wife's Grandfather brought up from Minnesota when he moved up to Manitoba in the early 1900's - it's just an old Iver Johnson but it did kill a grouse before I put it in the safe after it came here. This one is special to me as it belonged to a good friend who's health is such now that it's ours. I've yet to shoot it, but intend to do that and give it a good cleaning before it gets parked permanently. Thanks again for sharing your photo toad, thanks too to the OP for starting the thread and thanks to all who've shared their cool old arms. These are among my favorite threads here. All the best to you all this fall. Dwayne

How about a John Rigby 450 BPE 3 1/4 made in 1869? Or maybe a Holland & Holland 450 BPE 3 1/4 made in 1890? Or a Manton made in 1925 in 405 Winchester: Like something bigger, H & H 500 BPE 3 1/4 made in 1898 with 26 " barrels

I got a box of gun parts that had belonged to my Grandpa. Found a stock and was able to assemble it into this. It used to be his coach gun for hunting roosters. I use it for night-time skunks. WWII Arisaka. Found it at a small town gun show. Someone liked it enough to make it their elk gun. I added the Nikon Monarch. Shoots pretty good groups. An Austrian Karl Hauptmann that was a birthday present from my wife this year.
