Bare it reminds me of the Sako 85 Carbonlight. Are the composite finishes appearance grade? I can't tell from the pics. I think I saw SKane post one awhile back unfinished and he intended to keep it that way. Yeah, there are quite a few floating around these days. The only problem is McMiillan has perfected the unfinished look to look about danged-near perfect/finished. I wanted something more hideous/unfinished but I still like it and it'll stay this way.

I like them unpainted myself! Nice! The thread wasn't intended as a rejection of hand loading which would be silly. Just to point out that factory ammo for this cartridge is pretty good. Don't want anyone to get confused....

I think that's what's really helped the appeal of the 6.5 Creed. The factory stuff has been excellent. Making it possible for people to shoot well.

Hand loading will always be necessary as I shoot a couple of cartridges that factory loads are Unobtainable and a few that like my hand loads better.
But I have several rifles that shoot well to exceptionally with factory fodder from Federal and Hornaday. I no longer shoot for recreation at the range, just a few rounds for sight in, hunting, and a few varmints and pests as targets of opportunity.
Enjoy your new toy,
Jack

Since you can't get 40-40 Maynard anymore I do!!!
And I don't think there are any commercial 275 Rigby Improved on the shelves.

It's kinda on........backwards..... I knew that.....figured it out after it was on the rifle but just shot it anyway. I normally don't use one at all,so was not sure how they worked, since it has been a long time since I last tried one. That group was the first one I have fired since sometime last March when I was diagnosed with lymphoma, and have been prevented from shooting for months. I just wanted a solid rest at 500 yards so used it for a few shots . I then used it to shoot this 5 shot group Do you think the groups would have been better if I had put it on the right way?

Just loaded up 50 Barnes 130g TTSX for Daughter #1's .308 Win. headed to the range with her day after tomorrow so she can get some practice. WY antelope ad CO elk coming up. Just a follow-up. Daughter #3 took he WY antelope at 368 yards (as lasered from my position about 5 yards behind her, so maybe 363 yards actual). Loaded up some Barnes 175g LRX for my .300WM last night. If they shoot as well this weekend as the no-longer-available 180g MRX, I'll use them for elk come November. If I didn't handload I'd have another room in the basement. But I enjoy it. Probably load up some 225g AB for my .338WM tonight. Both it and the .300WM are going elk hunting.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.
