Picked up a new toy as the price was right (cheap). It has a commercial mauser action with no makers mark, Just a serial number that starts with a "P" and British proofs as in a crown over BNI and proofed at 19 tons per square inch. The rifle is a 308 Win and the barrel is marked Alpine Supreme behind rear sight and on left of barrel A.D. Heller Inc. Baldwin, N.Y. and on right side, Firearms Co. England. The stock is walnut with rosewood grip cap and forend tip. Any ideas? Should be a good shooter as the bore is mint. Thanks. Swede96.

Jericho: I don't think it is Birmingham small arms but i did make a mistake with a proof mark, It reads BNP not BNI under the crown. Also, this has a side safety like a remington. Extractor is jeweled. It also has the "C" ring inside reciever like a military action, FN s i have seen are cut in this area. 22" barrel, Buttpad says " Fi ". Does not have clip slot or thumb cut so is a commercial type action. Thanks for responding, Swede96.

Sounds like a Parker-Hale. They had an "Alpine" model ,they have a side safety and a C-Ring reciever. I have one downstairs in 308 with a detachable mag. They are a Spanish,Santa Barbara action, barrelled and stocked in England.Very common in Canada. Sounds like you have one with someone else's name on it.
