Well, I live in California - and the end is pretty much nigh. So I did the only appropriate thing. I bought an AR-10. POF .308 with a 14.5" barrel. Yeah, that's gonna be a little loud...and I'm giving up a bit of velocity. Cie la Vie.

Picture shamelessly stolen from the web - thank you Turners.

Anyway, now I need to scope it. I figure to make this a spinner. Maybe some 3-gun California style (limited mag sizes) so I'm thinking a low-med power scope, 1-6 or 1-8, 1.5-10, something like that with turrets. Burris PEPR mount.

Guys, this here's a toy...and the ultimate middle finger to the State of Mind I live in.

How would you scope it? Let's say, $1k budget.

PS: please reserve the "Move out of State" comments. I know...I know... smile

I like your attitude of defiance.

That price range is tough but maybe a VXR Patrol?

SWFA SS makes a 1-6x and a 1-4X .

VXR Patrol was the other that came to mind.

I have a lightly used, like new really, Leupold 30mm Mark 2 IMS mount I would you sell you for a good price. If interested PM me.

I like the middle finger also....

Hey Guys, thanks for the comments. The Patrol is definitely on my list as the budget answer. The top three that seem to bubble up include the Patrol in 3-9, the VX6 1-6, and really pushing the price boundary might be a Nightforce 2.5-10x32. It seems the NF could be bought around $1200 but I have little experience with that brand.

Ps: thanks for the offer on the Leopoldo mount. I'll be sending a pm on that.

If you are shooting different positions, you want a forgiving eyebox. I know the VX6 has a really nice eyebox. I have 1-6 VX6 scopes on my go to hunting rifles.

If you're going to be shooting 3gun, you'll want a 1-6x. A gas piston 308 AR beats up optics. Using the turrets causes issues with most scopes.

I've used every scope mentioned so far extensively...... Do yourself a favor if you want the scope to work and stay zeroed and get the SWFA 1-6x SS.
