I have not, but I can tell you from MANY friends that have, they have no equal when it comes to service and no issues with guns. Go over to Accuratereloading.com where you will get LOTS of first hand responses.

I've read the great reviews over there,as jorgeI mentioned. I would love to avoid J'Burg altogether next time to Namibia, and there aren't many ways to do so. Also, I'm very hardheaded, and have a hard time supporting the muslims.

6MMWASP,

My wife and I flew Emirates from Australia to NZ, and back, a few years ago. It was a very positive experience.

I looked real hard at Emirates business class to JNB. In the end, I went BA premium Eco for the miles. If Emirates was a One World member, I would have flown them in a heart beat. However, the Dubui to JNB flight is not an A380, which is the plane you want to be on.

It is my 6th trip and a retirement gift so I'm in no hurry either way. 21 days in the places I like best.

In 2012 my wife and our three sons did that route. All of our luggage, three rifles and ammo. I met them flying from Kazakhstan. Zero issues. While working/living in the Middle East I flew Emirates and Qatar Airways and they both were simply the best in the business.

I fly Emirates all the time. Absolutely fantastic airline. BTW, if you are travelling with firearms it's not difficult but you must get permission first. You have to get permission from the authorities in Dubai and Emirates handles all of that for you. Youll also get royal treatment at the airport as they dont want the other passengers you're travelling with firearms. smile

I am using them on May 11, Seattle to JoBurg for the first time.
Like some of the responses here, I have heard nothing but rave reviews from past user friends of mine.
I am a little apprehensive, but the miles game forced me in this direction.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Have a great trip.

I flew Houston to Dubai to Johannesburg in August, I did not find the service appreciably better than other airlines. They did not get my rifle on our flight to Victoria Falls which necessitated an extra trip back forth to camp and believe me the last think you want is an extra 6 hours on Zimbabwe roads. I'm going back in May and have booked with Delta out of Atlanta.

Top notch airlines. Fill out the firearms declaration form at least 3 days before travel dates and within one month of travel and you'll be set.

London to Dubai and Dubai to London, a few years ago. IMO, they are the best.

Kam Air was the worst.

I flew Seattle to JoBurg on Emirates back in March. It was by far the best economy class ticket I've ever flown on in my life. Just in case you didn't already know, Emirates is a mileage partner with Alaska Airlines, so make sure you use that FF # on your reservation. Round trip between Seattle and Johannesburg is a ton of miles.

We flew with Emirates last May, from Seattle to Joberg economy class with two rifles. We rebooked last night with Emirates for next May.

If you think that flying Delta with your guns will be an improvement over Emirates, you are in for a very unpleasant surprise. Delta lost my rifle flying to Joberg--left it in Dallas-- and couldn't find it for three days. I finally picked it up in Port Elizabeth after it was located by Air 2000 and directed to my location. I was filming a dvd and had to use that particular rifle, a Sharps. It cost me four days of a ten day safari.
