Is anyone out there playing with a rifle chambered for the 7X64 Brennecke ?
I have a really nice Dumoulin Mauser in that chamfering and I know that its similar to the 280 Rem.but I thought perhaps somebody might have a load suggestion or two.
I have Ken Waters Pet Loads books and they are an immense help, but I'm always looking for more so with that in mind any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

I have a Sauer 101, not much out there as to definitive reloading advice. I am working from 280 Remington loads. So far a mid range load seems a bit light velocity wise from what the 280 specs are. Funny thing is so far a 4064 load is turning into a good one. First rifle/round that really likes 4064. 4350, 7828, RL-22 and 4831 are others. The 4064 load with Sierra 140g was 5 into about .45 at 100 yards but only 2675fps. RL-22 with 160g is showing promise as well. 7mm-06 loads would also be a place to start. The Sauer does have a shorter 21" barrel however.

Interesting stuff, I have not tried 4064 but I will.
My barrel is also short....20.5", so performance should be similar to your rifle.
Thanks for the quick reply..

My 7x64, against my .280 prefers 160-grainers (rather than 140-grainers.) Other than that, loads I've worked up and chosen for both chamberings have been IDENTICAL.

160-grain Sierra / CCI 200 / 56 grains H4831 in CZ 550 Lux.

I'm helping a friend load for a 7-06 RCBS Improved (30 degree) and I've reviewed several loads, including 7x64 B (as well as QL) to try and triangulate on a load.

Tried the 175 Hornady RN over Re-22, but the velocities are sluggish. May try 7828 or step down to Re-19.

I doubt if I will load any heavier than 160 gr., that seems to work best in almost any 7mm rifle regardless of chamberings that I have played with.

Does the 7X64 use the same case as the 9.3X64?

No, it does not.

The 7x64 has the same case head and body diameter than the '06 case. It's powder capacity is identical, for practical purposes than that of a 280R.

The 9,3x64 case has a larger diameter and its capacity is almost identical to thast of the typical 2.5" magnum case. I used this case to build an 8mm wildcat which I named 8mm MAZON.

It is surprising that this case has not found any following... 2.5" long, so fits well in all standard sized actions, and magnum capacity without a belt.
