If I was gonna build one, I'd start with what you used. Those old ones with 2 3/4 ONLY chambers have a much shorter stroke than the later ones.
A man NEEDING to use one is gonna be pretty excited and it's easy to short stroke the newer ones.
It's one thing to hear the "click" as the firing pin strikes air and you watch a cock pheasant fly on off.
Damn sight worse when you REALLY need it to shoot a second time. Gene, I must be old-school because that's exactly what I've got sitting behind me in its soft case right now. Nice blue and walnut with the old checkering. I think the barrel is 28" modified. What used to be thought of as a do it all gun. I intend to get a 20 just like it when one shows up on a gunshow table.

Shotguns are absolutely wicked weapons..... Yep. Same principle as a sub-gun, simultaneous multiple impacts. Folks don't generally stay in the fight after getting hit solidly by a shotgun blast of buckshot.

Makes me think of the shotgun scene in Open Range where it knocks the guy clear off his feet.
Hope it does not have to, Paul.....

Hope it does not have to, Paul..... Yeah, that was ridiculous. Laws of physics would demand that such a round would also knock the shooter to the ground.

Good morning Hank.
I shot one doe with it. It was dark and I gave that deer to someone who needed it more than I. So I never did see it skinned, but the damage looked pretty substantial. Not too messy, but a good sized hole.
I have only shot to 200 yards with it. I am easily comfortable at that range now. It will take deer much further out than that.
But-----I have it set up where I should be able to run it to 500 yds. Something I have planned on doing right from the start. According to my calculations, I should have enough come ups left. I have the handloads ready. Just haven't run them through the chrony yet. Will then exercise my free CDS dial option.....

Was gonna paint that buttstock with some black Alumahyde, but the damn spray nozzle hosed me I swear there isn't much in the world that consistently pisses me off more than spray cans. I try to do everything right with them, but it just doesn't seem to matter.......

I have plenty of other shotguns. But am not what I would consider a shotgun guy. I don't look at it like butchering a fine old rifle, but can see how some may. It was pretty beat up, price was right, and it was just what I was looking for in a donor.......
