Been away about two days - good to find the update and learn that Clara is making progress. A lot lies ahead.

Just saw this thread as I have been on the mountain, prayers sent for Clara and best wishes for a full recovery, she sounds like a tough little girl, may God bless her and be with her family in this difficult time.

Clara has been moved from the 9th floor ICU, to the 8th floor, (recovery) which is a good thing except she has to share a room now. The doctors said today they have never seen a child improve as well and as fast as Clara, she's a tough little girl. Her birthday is this Thursday, she'll be 11, so sad she has to be there for it.
She also squeezed the doctors fingers with her LEFT hand so that is very encouraging! She has been using the bed side commode which is also a very good thing. Her older sisters have been there for a few days now too and that really helps Clara, she's been telling jokes and is really putting a lot of effort into getting better.
She's only taking Tylenol now and just enough to mediate her headaches. She's still taking food through a nasal tube because her throat is so sore from being intubated so long. No IV's though and she had a small swallow of water today.
She will have to go back in November for a follow up MRI and hopefully she'll have her skull piece reattached in January.
I'm not sure about visitors at this time, I just got off the phone with mom and she said it's a near constant stream of doctors and therapists in and out of Clara's room. All the prayers and concerns are very much appreciated though, thank you!

Haven't been on the Fire much so just catching the gist of the thread. We're sending you all prayers from SW Idaho. There is nothing more precious than our children/grandchildren,

Update on Clara: Basically every doctor, nurse, therapist, school teacher, social worker, liason, etc. that has interacted with Clara and mom were sitting around a conference table. Fourteen people in all. They went around and gave a report on their evaluations of Clara and mom had opportunity to question each one.
The bottom line: Clara's target date to return home is November 3rd. They will do their best to have Clara walking, using both arms and eating on her own, as well as basic skills like brushing her teeth and getting dressed.
