209 primers or musket cap? Also, what powder and primers are you using?
I'd remove the barrel and check the firing pin bushing. The bushing should be flush with the frame. If its sunk in to much, it will cause the firing spring to not compress and come outward enough.

Thanks for the advice bigblock455, i did that, along with modifying a pen spring and using it in place of the factory spring. so far, it has worked on the primers.

they make a blackhorn/loose powder specific breach plug. It will take care of your misfires I bet. http://www.cva.com/CVA-Store-View.php?id=588

Clean it. The wolf firing pin gets sticky in a hurry. There is a slot for a screw driver under the hammer, remove carefully so as not to lose the spring.

What tracks said.
I have found wolf will make it longer between firing pin cleanings if I don't lube anything after cleaning

You can eliminate the blowback from the primer/load by either extending the firing pin retainer screw to a flush fit with the primer or by putting a very small o-ring into the bottom of the breech plug. I am currently fixing a friend's CVA Optima (first gen) that had a stuck firing pin. It sticks out enough to create a slam fire when closed.

How much did CVA pay you for that comment?
Lmao. You have zero credibility here, but the only one here who doesn't know it is you. Keep pushing junk, maybe one day Rick will ban you like the other sites have.....

well if you are still here, I'd say I am safe And my only CVA I have is an old Hawken, so I doubt they'd pay me to support a rifle they no longer make

Theres also a shim kit cva sells to correct any firing pin bushing that is installed to deep. I use them for head space adjustment to remove all blow by. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0FdSNiDNa0part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbWvn_EfxOoAn even easier way and one that lasts 40+ shots or so before needed replaced is this simple o ring installed into the primer pocket. http://www.mcmaster.com/#9262k611/=rgsfbp

Fix your firing pin issue and as always, I recommend hot primers like CCI-Mag and Federal 209A.
When used according to manual specs, there's nothing wrong with owning a CVA Wolf.

Or the one in your cute little World Hunt Club "pro staff" photo? Laffin'. Pro Staff? Really? The WHC is owned by CVA, is it not? As CVA and it's brands are the only sponsors.....Lol. Cmon Johnathan, it is ok, we already know. I would say go shamelessly plug your garbage Spanish made crap somewhere else, but you seem to be well known just about every where now. And banned by some who finally had enough of you. Hard to hide from the truth, isn't it?

Including and especially you. CVA now makes a fine rifle. Buddy at work has had a Wolf for 5-years. Shoots sub 1" groups and has killed 4 deer that I know of. Spanish made crap?

Yeah okay. If you call being paid to plug inferior products "credibility" He has been kicked off forums for doing it. And I have been shooting since before he was born. CVA a fine rifle? Really? LMAO. GFY
