Has anyone used this bullet yet? Does it seem to perform up to the advertised BC and on game performance?

Building a 26 Nosler and I need have a bullet I can count on being available and the Nosler 142 grain ABLR would be my choice but they are never in stock and stupid expensive for practice. So I would like to use the ELD X for my go-to bullet and have the chamber throated for a dummy round with this bullet- if they live up to the advertised claims. I'm pretty sure the Nosler isn't going to live up to the .715 BC claim Nosler has tagged them with- but I could be wrong.... smile

My biggest concern is if I can substitute them 1:1 to the Amax.

I shoot the 212 eld-x in place of the 208 AMAX in my 300WM. I ended up 1/2gr less of powder and same accuracy.

I have only been shooting them for about 5 months but so far they surpass my expectations.

1 4x4 whitetail behind the shoulder at 676yds, complete pass through with good damage inside.

1 approx 350# black bear through the shoulders at 418yds, complete pass through both shoulder joints and out.

Myself and 3 others in our camp will be using them for elk starting this Saturday.

They shot the same as A-max's for me in a 7rem (162's) I noticed the ogive is moved forward on the ELD's X's.

Can only speak to the 7mm/162's in my heavy 7 WSM but in that rifle, yes, I can do that. Verified that both group to the same "minute of lungs" out to 900 yards.

That speaks to the BC's being as advertised, however, you'll need to verify that they have the same POI in your rifle. I think that's likely the biggest hurdle. Rifles will probably vary. Again, in my rifle they both go into the same tiny group at 100 yards.

Note: this is with the 162 Amax. The replacement for that is the new ELD-Match. I haven't tried those as I have ~500 of the Amax's left.

The CENTER will hold.

Has anyone tried the 175 ELD-X out of a factory 7mag (or other) Remington 9.25 twist? Says they need 8.5" on the box, but sometimes they lie.

I just shot a bull elk here in second season rifle in colorado with the 212 30 cal eldx in my 300 wby. Through both shoulders at 200 and exited. I am happy with them. However there was quite a bit of bloodshot meat, almost acted like a regular ballistic tip at that range but it did hold together. FIrst shoulder was the most damaged, while the off shoulder showed a lot less bloodshot with an exit wound of about half an inch. I am a little surprised, although pleasently, that they held together at the higher velocities that closer ranges offer. I will continue to use them.

162 eld-x from my 7rm at 3180fps behind the shoulder of a spike elk at 384 yds. Bull went about 30yds and piled up without any fuss.

The bull was slightly quartering to me, impact was about 4" behind the shoulder crease, exited about 9" behind offside shoulder. Both lungs were jello and exit was about 1 1/2" in diameter.

I couldnt ask for more.

Your velocity was the biggest reason for the blood-shot meat. I am glad to hear that it held together.

Overall, the evidence is indicating that they are not too bad. I just shot a handful of 143s this afternoon through my .260, just to see what they would do. 47 grains of H4831 got 2700 fps and 3/4 moa at 200. Not bad for a first try, but that rifle shoots anything.

143gr ELD-X from factory Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor. Recovered from an elk shot at 450 yards. No lead, only the jackets.

The two were just under the hide on the off side, found when skinning...

The single was found on the near side front shoulder, never making it into the chest cavity...

All three were from bull elk at 450 yards with a 6.5 Creedmoor. I never found any of the lead...
