Hunt report from my Triange X hunt.
[Linked Image]

We left Mn. a week before our hunt and were in the Casper area on the 15 when we got a call asking us to be there as soon as possible. Got there the next day, 16th, and road in to camp the 17th.

Starting in at Pacific Creek traihead.

Camp at the end of a 6 hr. ride.

Monday the 17th. Snowed all day and night.

So we did not hunt on Monday.

Tuesday was our first day hunting. We were in the saddle 12 hr. Tuesday and saw one really nice moose and some elk tracks.
[Linked Image]
Had our lunch here and then the snow came back. Started working our way back to came then because visibility had dropped to less than 100 yards. You can see the snow rolling in on us.

Second day hunting and we saw a lot of deer. several nice bucks.

Also saw one small bull late in the day. Did not get him.

Third day was the day.
[Linked Image]
There is a heard of about 70 elk in this picture by the trees on the bench.

The elk got jumped by another outfitter and went on the move heading up towards us and to our left. We moved several times and got in position. Here is the result.

On the way to camp after a little work. Wife and me with elk.

Could not be happier.

Back to camp.

Wife also got a shot at a bull but two day of tracking after the other outfitter pushed it and the heard down the mountain were unsuccessful in locating it again.

Wife told me that this was the best vacation/hunt ever.

We were 3 for 5 in success on elk up to the time we went back to the ranch. Spent several more day at the ranch while the elk was processed.
The ride back to camp.

The lodge.

The hunt, camp and lodge were great. The food was super, the horses were fine and got up and down the mountains with no issues. The guides, cooks, wanglers and ranch personnel worked hard to make our trip a success and they did a fine job. I cannot thank them enough for the great experience the wife and I had. I will go back..

300 RUM, 168 e-tip. 94gr. R-25 WLRM in a Norma case.
Rifle is Rem 700 B&C stock with a Leupold 3.5x10 CDS.
I was set to shoot to about 500 but shot the elk around 55 or 60 yards on a step down hill angle.

Awesome trip Terry! I love that pic of all the tents. That's a lot of work!

Congrats to you and your wife.

Now you're back just in time to set up for deer season.
