I have a Ruger in 35 Whelen. Love the rifle, but I've had some neck issues and I'm thinking of changing the stock to a McMillan with a little extra weight and a limbsaver. Anyone using the tactical or sniper weight stock? I'd love to know if it's worth it.

Is it a M77? You might look at Stocky's classic stocks in a laminated of your prefered flavor. Strong, classy and adds a little weight. If it is a hunting rifle a real "Tactical" type of stock may not work as well as you would like.

LJB3,
I'll look at those. Its a hunting rifle. The way I read the McMillan website is that I can get a hunting stock with different filler to add weight. their standards are called tactical and sniper weights.

Don't get me wrong McMillans are top notch but so is the price and they still should be glass bedded just like a Stocky's classic. It is definitely worth looking into.

Boyd's is less money than stockys, Stockys is not in stock.

I prefer classic.
