Hey guys, I get a lot of PM's regarding stocks, bedding and good ol pre 64 model 70's for some dang reason.... I often search ebay for good deals on good pre 64 model 70 stocks and parts. You never know just what you'll find. I ran across this stock this morning because I was in a discussion with a good guy here regarding a beautiful original 300 win mag stock. I was hoping to help him find a good useable hunter/beater stock so he doesn't destroy his original stock and watch the collector value plummet on his beautiful collectable rifle. Here's the first thing I ran into:

Stock for a 30-06 on ebay

The seller says it's "rare", so it's got to be worth an arm and a leg right. He's from AK, so that may explain some things laugh whistle .

I'm going to keep looking for a good stock on ebay, but thought I'd share this one for anyone looking for a good "rare" stock for their rifle... laugh

Moral of the story, don't take your "rare" rifle out in the woods, beat the hell out of it and then expect to sell it for an astronomical amount of money. Just isn't going to happen. Most of us here realize keeping a rare collectable pre 64 model 70 rifle in good collectable condition, means to keep care of it. Right???? wink

You can't put a price on "character".

Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote.

I sold on ebay an "as new" Pre-64 Fwt stock from a 1961 30-06 for just under $700 in 2008.

Granted, $500 is high for this stock given it looks like it was drug behind a truck, but it's surprising what stuff brings on ebay. This seller's challenge will be he started initial bidding too high. You have to price low enough to get bids and get people emotionally invested in the process.

It wasn't a compliment.
