I have a couple of Tasco Red Dots, a BKRD 42 and a BKRD 30.
They both work, but the rubber like covering has gotten sticky. They've been kept in a climate controlled environment, no exposure to extreme temp.
Has anyone seen this?

Yes I have. My BKRD 30 has the same problem. So does my Bushnell rangefinder. I put some alcohol on a rag and wiped both down. I haven't tried it yet with my Limbsaver recoil pad.

I may try some acetone, hope it's not too strong.
Alcohol works, just really slow.

I had a rubber coated scope get sticky. Acetone removed much of it but it was messy and a waist of time considering the purchase price.
My electric car buffer handles turned to goo during storage over a few years. I looked like Br'er Rabbit fighting a tar baby after lifting it out of the case.

The BKRD-30 works perfectly and is worth saving.
It's currently on a Ruger Mk II with can in a 14" Bulldog rug, stuck in my deer hunting pack.
I pull it out for coons and squirrels I see while deer hunting.
The 1X red dot is great for that, no long shots. it's dead on at 50', nice groups with Rem Subsonic ammo. Quiet killer.
