Who makes a simple cup and core round nose bullet in 9.3 mm? I'm going to be loading some 9.3x62 ammo at 9.3x57 velocities to hunt whitetails in close cover at a max of 75-100 yards. So I want a blunt, straight sided roundnose with a fairly thin jacket. Something shaped like the Woodleigh Round Nose Soft Point in 250 to 286 grain but not bonded and with a thin jacket. Where can I get some bullets like this?

I've been using the 270 gr. Speer in my 9.3x62 and 9.3x57 for the same application since 1999 and have been very satisfied with the outcome on deer, pigs, black bear, nilgai and one moose.
I've used the 286 gr. Lapua Mega and 286 gr. Woodleigh RN and PP to a lesser degree; these are tougher bullets and I have yet to recover one.
And while not a RN the 250 gr. NBT (now replaced by the AB)has been a hammer on deer and pigs.
YMMV

I too, like the Speer 270 grain in both my x57 and x62. Priced right as well.

Works well on hogs and deer!!!

This seems like a pretty decent bullet, and tougher than the Hornady SP Interlock. I would question whether it fits the "soft, thin jacketed" part as well as some others.

Hawk has several from 200 grains to 320 in different jacket thicknesses.

Norma makes a 232g Vulcan bullet that has worked well for me as a deer round. Hard to find however. Have taken 8 deer with it in a 9.3X62. Only recovered one bullet, perfect mushroom.

Hard to find... A master of under statement!!..
The Prvi is a good un, non fussy, the 270 Speer is a softer bullet, but spitzer..

On a deer, I'm sure the Privi 286s would work fine at any angle. I've dug some out of our range backstop and was surprised how well they held together.

Once in while some Norma Alaskan 286 Round nose bullets show up at Graf's. The 270 gr Speer seems to be one of the softer 9.3 bullets.

Dig around a bit. I did a bunch of bullet testing years ago and posted results here. The PRVI used to be real cheap but it is a hard bullet. The hornady was soft. I've heard good things about the Speer but never tried it myself.

When the 232 Vulkan is back in stock, load up and have at it. Don't worry that it is not a big round nose, it will work.

If you cannot wait, Speer 270 to hold you over. Again, don't worry about its shape.

The Vulkan is overdue for delivery, so it may show up before too long.

I used the Speer 270 gr'er as my do all bullet for WTails & Hogs and got excellent accuracy out of a CZ550 and drt's every time. My 1st 4 rnds at 100 yards during the intitial breakin routine with a 3 gr under max break in load gave me 3 holes touching and the 4th closeby with all of them under MOA, afer 3 rounds used to center the group at 50 from bore sighting. Fastest I ever boresighted and then fired for group on a NIB rifle.

There used to be chart of factory ammo & a list of reloads for the 9.3x62 from different authors that was around for years here on 24HCF. I used the Finn Aagard load in Privi brass, WLR's & ?? powder. Gave all that data stuff away with the gun to a neighbor who'd dogged me for years to sell it to him. Get Mule Deer to reprint that 2 page list, taken from Handloader magazine's archives....or find Bob ?Foust from Houston to see if he still has a copy.

My neighbor used the Privi 286's on a monster hog est'd at 300lbs++ at couple hundred yards out, south east of Lubbock just off the Caprock, and shot flatter than I would have thought, and rolled him like barrel down a slight slope mebbe 50' or so. Took a front end loader to pick the hog up and get him up on the skinning rack. Not bad on your shoulder either, out of the CZ American. Always wanted another one in a CZ Fullstock.

MY 1st Wtail with the Speers at a max load knocked a mature spike 35' back up the trail he'd just exited..and I had to part the hair front side to find the entry, with a half dollar exit hole and nuthin' but soup in between...and no meat bruised anywhere.

Love the 9.3 x 62. My favorite.

270 Speer
WLR
56-62 grains of H414

Rock on!

In close cover for whitetail, no need to hot rod the load so work it up until you like the groups.

Not exactly what you are looking for but I think that at X57 velocities, the 270g Speer is hard to beat and inexpensive. I load the 270g Speer with 62g of Big Game which gives me 2442 (+/- 10) fps in a 9.3X62.

I shot a bull elk last year at 100 yards and hit it perfectly on the right side between the 5th and 6th rib. The bullet passed through the top of the heart and out the other side between the 3rd and 4th rib, through the left leg shattering the bone (like a muzzleloader) and out. There was no blood on either side of the hide and no blood trail for the 40 yards it ran. Not until the left side was skinned that I discovered it was a pass through. It made an awful bloodshot mess of the on side “arm pit” even though it didn’t go there; don't hit what you want to eat. Impact velocity was probably just over 2200 fps. Anyway, it's a sample of one...

The funny thing abut the 9.3X62 in my experience with the 232g Vulcan was no meat damage! All were DRT. I was using JB's 9.3X62 loads that you can find in the archives.
