Anyone know anything about an outfit called "Authentic African Safaris"? They have an ad on Craigslist for a 7 day, 1 animal (blesbok or impala) trip for $3000.00. Just looking to see if anybody has any input or experience with them good or bad. This includes meals and lodging, no airfare, tips, taxidermy, etc. Thoughts?

I suggest you make an enquiry to both SCI and The Hunting Report. They maintain an extensive database of outfitters and PH's, with actual reports from clients, both good and bad.
If not a member, you should join SCI anyway and the grief a subscription to The Hunting Report can save you is worth many, many times the cost of the subscription.
Unfortunately, there are many scammers in the safari industry and it is to your advantage to find out before you book and pay your money.

troutslayer, no dog in this hunt, but why on earth would you want to fly halfway around the world to hunt just one animal? For only 7 days to boot. There is a world of outfitters in both Namibia and RSA. I think I'd go to DSC the first of January, and spend a couple days talking to outfitters there. Just my thoughts.....

I can answer anything you want on them. He has been a business partner of mine for 12 years now.
I've had 50-60 guys hunt with him. He just bought a home in Oregon and has his family living here off season now. They have over (way over) 100,000 acres to hunt.
One piece is a very large, it's long time private game reserve called Shelanti game reserve all the big five are on much of this property. Plus hippos croc and massive populations of plains game.
He is over 7' tall too! Biggest outfitter in Africa!

Why on earth would anyone want to go to all the way to Africa, for only 7 days, to hunt one common plains species? I can see going for one of the Big Five as a single species hunt, but not for a blesbok or impala, unless you just want a travel excuse to go to Africa. It's just not worth the hassle, IMO.

Bighorn: Matter of perspective: I planned on 10 days, 6 animals on my first trip over, My son was in Korea at the time and met me in Port Elizabeth, He only wanted an Impala - that's it.
I asked the same question, travel all the way to Africa for one animal, and he said "Sure, Dad".
