I don't think there's any hunting more fun than jackrabbits. Dove is a close second!

I never get tired of showing off game taken with my 400 Whelen. It's a left handed model 70, Shilen barrel, NECG banded front sight, barrel band swivel, rust blued and drilled and tapped for a Lyman 48. This year it wore a Redfield 2 3/4x Post and Crosshair but it changes back and forth between that and the Lyman 48. This is a dry caribou cow taken near the McClaren River.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

My father Kayeoodie, was kind enough to let me borrow one of his 1895s in 35 Winchester. So this evening my oldest son and I were out at our place and I put a 250 gr Hornady round nose through the shoulders of an 8 point. The loads he sent me with were some I made for him last year for an elk hunt. Makes deer fall like a sack of potatoes.

A little small but it was a slow hot season and I didn't shoot one last year waiting for the big one. The longest deer shot of my life and the only one without a scope. Later ranged it at 195 yards. 53' 30-06 with a 165 Gameking.

Good shooting with an iron sighted rifle. It's hard not to like a pre-64 model 70. Good job.

Some pics. Oryx. Blesbok. Springbok. Blue Wildebeest. All the above animals were killed with a M 70 .375 H&H SS and 270 gr Swift A-Frame.
