I have some fence to paint along with a couple out buildings. Thinking of getting a sprayer to hopefully make it easier. My first thought was one that draws from a bucket, but I don't do this every day, so maybe a tank unit, quart or so, might do OK. I would think cleanup would be easier with a tank type. Never used one of these before, hoping some of you guys can offer suggestions. I have both a Lowes and Home Depot close by.

The only time I ever saw my old boss angry was the Monday morning he came to work after Fuggin with one of those quart sprayers all weekend..
Get an airless....cleanup's easy with water base paint...

Take a look at Harbor Freights offering. http://www.harborfreight.com/airless-paint-sprayer-kit-60600.htmlI just finished painting the exterior of my house and the ceilings. I've been happy with it. It's compatible with Graco tips, extensions, and hoses.

Well I bought that sprayer. After a little getting used to it, I blew through 5 gallons of paint of fencing in a couple hours, both sides.

Thanks for the follow up! I may be in the market next spring and will look for that one.

I bought it at Lowes, it was $229 I think? Before I paint again, I think I'll look into a narrower pattern nozzle. While the one that comes with it would do fine on a house/barn type surface, it sprays a bit wide for board fence. Clean up wasn't bad, you have to take the spray head apart to get it clean, but with water based paint, you can hook a garden hose up to the intake hose and pump clean water through. That gets the pump and hose. I didn't use the "treatment" stuff they provide after clean up, cause I'm storing this in my basement, not in freezing temps.

WayneShaw, you said you picked up a Grace?... Did you mean to spell Graco? Also, I would advice using the treatment if your going to be storing the unit for any time at all, it's more of a lubrication issue for the pump than a temperature related one.

Thanks. I'm sure our HomeyD has that or similar. No Lowes here, fortunately.
Local rental shop no longer rents the 5 gal HPLV sprayers.

I meant to type Graco, but the damn ipad probably changed it without me knowing. Sorry.

Best get that storage liquid in it stat or next time you try to use it nothing will happen. I stored mine like that for a day and it froze up. Was a pain trying to get it working again.
Also, for those in the market grab a used one, use it, and sell it back on craigslist. I bought mine used for 200$ (the big one, x7 or something). When Im done with it i can turn right around and sell it again for 200$.

Local rental shop no longer rents the 5 gal HPLV sprayers. I happen to know someone with an HPLV system that has done a number of airplanes and furniture pieces... just needs the bucket adaptor for huge jobs. Since most of the paint goes on a quart goes a lot farther.
