Thinking about picking up a Howa to make a custom out of. Anyone have any ideas on this? Curious to know shat stocks are available for this action. Want to keep it fairly light. Thanks in advance.

McMillan Sako Classic or the Weatherby Vanguard (puke) pattern. I have one in 250AI that I like much, Paul has one done in 264WM that is also a shooting SOB.

Will be doing a few more on them this coming year.

Remington will win the light war.

They are good actions, and a Mickey Coleman would make you happy...............

Bansner's High-Tech is offered. My 375 should be ready end of February. An aside--it would be easier to save weight with a light action, which the Howa ain't.

I can dig it. I've the 264 which as Steely said is scary accurate. Having a 7-08 screwed together by mickey for the wife right now. Have a SS 308 waiting for a stock, Factory barreled for my oldest to shoot out and going to order a few more after the first of the year..

Here's a pic of the 264..

Not real worried about keeping ultra lite weight. Just don't want another 10+ rifle. Have 2 of those already. How do you go about getting a hold of Mickey. Have a High-Tech now for my 300 WM, but it wasn't stiff enough. Found a guy that makes prosthetics and he wrapped it in Carbon fiber. Added about 20 grams. Supposed to pick it up next week.

I also read somewhere that someone bought a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock for their Howa in a "light" configuration. Been searching for a while and see no such thing. Anybody ever heard of this?

Can't know about B&C, but the Howa is just fine. Remember this ain't like picking a spouse, it is cheap and easy to fix if you don't like......

What Steelhead said......I think. I deal with so many combinations and talk to so many guys in a weeks time I can't possibly remember for sure very many details. Dorothy says my memory is so bad I can hide my own Easter eggs. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
