howdy, I've got a .30-govt-06 in @85% condition. Its wearing a lyman WJS recvr sight. Clean rcvr, not drilled. Can anyone estimate a price range?

That's a beauty. Do you have any other pictures? Does it still have the metal butt plate? What year was it made?
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

If your rifle is in "85%" condition and all original, it should be worth $2,000.00...

At least $3,000 for an honest .30-06 pre-war carbine with that condition....

Nice undrilled/unmolested prewar M/70's are getting harder to find all the time. In 40 yrs. of collecting M/70's I've only owned one carbine, a post war .270 which I don't recall what I paid for. $2-$3K sound about right for an estimate of your rifle's value. The condition of the bolt handle and floor plate tells us that rifle had a good home for many years. Congrats on a very fine prewar M/70.

WOW, money ain't worth losing that one over, I'd find an old Lyman dovetail blank for the rear barrel sight, take it off and save it, and hunt the hell out of that one with the receiver peep.
200 gr partitions would let you cover 300 yards of Wyo countryside and kill any animal there with ease.

Thanks for the input everyone. I've yet to decide whether or not to part with it, especially since it's my only model 70.

If it's your only model 70, you should hang on to it and use it....

Mine looks real good But it was reblued about 15 years ago. I used it as a backup gun for a long time. In 25 years it has taken only one mule deer, and one speed goat.

The proper Lyman 48 for that year would have the notched out stock. Don't remove the rear sight. Leave the Lyman off and enjoy that unmolested beauty!! $3,000.00 for sure on that one! Most preWar carbines are in a much more used condition than that one. There are better ones out there but they are few and far between with most being in bigtime collector's hands that won't be on the market cheap if they over get out there.
