I took this photo yesterday morning when I was out coyote hunting. He is absolutely my dream buck... it's too bad I couldn't find him three weeks ago.

A guy will look a lifetime for a buck like that and probably never find him. They know how to hide.

Uhhhhh, Wow! One of the hardest trophies to kill in all big game hunting IMO. I expect to only see the biggest bucks once, if I'm lucky.

Hey Sonora - you've probably got more experience than I do; care to take a guess on a score (gross non-typical)? The only other shot that I got was walking away. I know his main beam on his left side was shorter than his right, but the drop tine should more than make up the difference.

Boy, ain't that the truth. The first over 30 inch desert mulie I ever saw, I tried to find for the next 5+ seasons. All I ever found was a few very old tracks. Yes, he had unique tracks. I talked to a good friend that covered the area both on the ground and in the air with others during the off season. Found his tracks, but never saw him.
The second one, I tracked almost all day. Spent much time hunting the wrong drainage, etc. Finally, when I approached his bed, I suspected he could be there, but I was too tried to get up above the wash for a better chance to shoot if he was there. You guessed it, he was there. Had a good look at him as he went over a ridge over 300 yds out at a dead run. And no time to get into anything like a useful shooting position.
The last one was even worse. I literally caught him in his bed. With his ears flat, his rack extend about 8 inches beyond his ear tips. When I tried to assume some sort of shooting position, he caught the movement and was up and running. I wounded him at something 150-200 yds. Tracked him the rest of the day. Lost almost all blood sign early on. He just kept walking. Even passed within 50 yds. of my parked Jeep, which was two drainages away from where I shot him. Broke off the track as it was getting dark. The next day, a fierce sand storm covered up his tracks.
Went back this year, two years later, to find him. Again, found very old tracks in four different locations. Lost 7 lbs. in 19 days of looking for him. Never found him.
Yes, the really nice ones are incredibly wary. They know where to go and waht to do to stay alive. So, if you do get one, it really is a top throphy. E

Yeah, I can't tell if that drop tine is part of the front fork.

Either way, a drop tine that length would be a sizable deduction if it's not part of the front fork or mess up the width score if it is and most likely keep him out of the typical category. But he definitely has a B&C frame.
