Leaving tomorrow to take my son on his first camping plus hunting trip. He's been with me a few times to some family land sitting in shooting houses but has yet to see a deer killed or pull the trigger himself. This is an old school themed trip, staying in a "cabin" with no electricity no water only a wood stove for heat. Even driving a 1984 GMC pulling a 1955 CJ5. We are hunting on a forum member's farm in NC. I'll be posting pics and a write up once we return, travel Thursday spend Thursday night in hotel camp-hunt Friday through Sunday. Plan on taking 2 bucks and 2 does butchering myself to process on my own next week sometime. So excited about introducing my son to stuff my father passed down to me.

Well we made it! Got a flat tire on the trailer 30miles from the hotel. No big deal just pull out my spare tire and put it on....the "spare" tires gives up in less then 10 yards!! Thankfully I had a spare for my spare, another 15 minutes and it's on. Reese (my 8yr old son)got to learn first hand tonight a tough lesson. 2 is 1 and 1 is none!!

Tomorrow we head to the cabin and get started hunting!

Nice hotel, beds were hard as a rock but hey it was warm! It got down to 17 last night so we appreciated the room more than normal! Heading to the cabin now, the Jeep is ready to roll!

We made it to the cabin, got settled in and met the property owner for a tour of the land. Picked out a stand for this afternoon and got all bundled up. It was 31 by 3pm and dropping. Little buddy had a hard time this afternoon sitting still and staying quite...well except for the nap he took in the stand for about 45 minutes. Saw no deer but plenty of rabbits and other small game. With about 15 minutes of shooting light left he couldn't take the cold aniand we had to hike it to the Jeep. Pretty sure the not seeing any deer was on us today lol. Here are a few pics for you guys to enjoy. We still have a day and a half of hunting left. It's in the 20's outside right now but as I lay on my cot in my underwear it's about 75 in this cabin! Never underestimate a big wood stove!

I'd pay good money for a hunt like that!

Your son will remember this one for a long time.

Whether you harvested a deer or not, I would hope that the time spent/shared in "real" conditions will be remembered by both from now on.

Looks like a perfect hunting cabin
