I'll be in Africa (Uganda) for the next several months. I'm thinking of putting together a hunt someplace while I'm here. I believe there is hunting available in Uganda, but looking for ideas. Just some plains game. I have no desire to shoot any of the Big Five. If I cant eat it, I have no desire to kill it. Unfortunately, my 375 Ruger is back in the states, but I'm sure that isn't a problem. Thanks to all.

Sure wish I could help with info but all I can provide is encouragement.
You are already there, I'd sure try my best to work out a hunt. There are some pretty unique species there.

Best of luck!

Winston Churchill called it "The Pearl of Africa." You are in a great place.

There are many recent reviews from Uganda in The Hunting Report. If you are serious about this, I would get a subscription and start reading. Contact the PHs and let them know where you are located and that you are able to do a cancellation hunt. Heck, they may have a hunter leave early and you can be there in a day or two.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Contact Scott Guthrie at Zindele Safaris.

I have hunted with him several times over the past twenty years in Zimbabwe and he is a top notch operator.

He hunts Uganda each season and then moves back to Zimbabwe for the season there.

I have not hunted Uganda myself so cannot comment on it, only on the credibility of Scott Guthrie.

Best of luck.

For some interesting background and to become familiar with the names of many of the best hunting areas, read the book
"Uganda Safaris" by Brian Hearne, who was involved in opening the country for safari hunting.
