Went in last night and shot a cow just before dark. Waited as long as I could but the closest ones were 370yds. Drug her down the steep part just to dress her out by headlamp. I took her down to the bottom of a draw and propped her open and threw a shirt over the hams and lions. The weather put down three inches of snow by morning, but I liked that. I'd take my plastic sleds in and drag her out about a mile. Waiting for my help that morning the wind picked up. Still snowing. By the time we got to the elk we had about 8" of snow,15mph breeze. About -5 with the windchill. Suppose to go back in tomorrow and get one more with the boy. Drifts are growing. On the way out I past one that was up to my window on the old Ford. It's going to be deep in the morning. and colder.

Hunting late sounds like an adventure.
I chase southeast Wyo elk in Sept and October and occasionally get a flurry. I always wondered what those later season hunts would be like.
Congrats and good luck

My recent hunt was almost like yours, only without the wind and snow. I had about three inches of snow and no wind. It was beautiful and the retrieval day was about the same, only with a bit more wind.
Gotta love late Wyoming cow hunts! The weather can get pretty crazy, though!

Well it warmed up today, got -6 this afternoon. Windchill was bad this morning. Tried walking in but against the wind turned us around. Found the elk but they were out of our boundary. For some reason they didn't want to cross the fence and play today. Closes the end of the month, and we only need one more cow. Thanks guys.
