We have always had to get stocks from US suppliers and since 9/11 its been a nightmare to import anything in gun related stuff into Canada. Robertson Composites have been making benchrest stocks mostly and some hunter stocks but they where heavy, i was at Ian Robertsons shop and looked at his new hunting stock Its top notch work, I have a Mcmillan and a Hightech Specialties but I would buy Robertson from now on. His new stock for Rem s/a 19oz with recoil pad and swivels he does not show yet his light weights on his web page yet, but I beleive in the new year he will update his site. The colours are endless and not painted on embeded [img]http:/[image] http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/manitou210/100_2525.jpg[/img]/[/image] [img]http:[image] http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/manitou210/100_2522.jpg[/img]//[/image] [img]http[image] http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/manitou210/100_2526.jpg[/img]://[/image]

Manitou,
Do you know if the Robertson classic style stock comes with a cheekpiece for M700's?
Thanks, Casey

Curious as to what the stock is made off, and how it's built ... need questions answered regarding price, durability, rigidity, warranty, etc ..
good looking though, from what I can tell in the pictures ...

He made posts on a Canadian site, AR and I think here, announcing that he was making a dakota 97 (?) stock and could inlet for various actions.
He made initial responses to my inquiries, then nothing. I ordered two McMillans instead, and Rick Bin and the McMillan folks have never failed to answer inquiries and follow up with info I needed to order stocks.

Ian has answered all my questions on various subjects. Might want to use the phone at some point - email isn't always reliable or the best way to do business.

To answer a few questions, glass and carbon fibre, very rigid and stiff and forever. I was directed here by an email as I don't always watch this forum.

I obtained one of Ian's stocks to put on a M70/35 Whelen. The stock and workmanship are first class as far as synthetics go. Very well laid up with multiple layers of woven fiber. High quality filler , much like the McMillan core. Colour seems to go throughout the resin, and the surface finish is slick smooth.
Dimensions of the fore end are relatively full and the butt profile is quite similar to a 700 Classic stock.
The product is very good but relatively plain in feature: no cheek piece, no checkering, no texture to the gripping areas unless requested. I would prefer a more open grip but that is nit picking. Be sure to find out what options may be available if that style of stock isn't your cup of tea.
Mine is in dark green , black mottle and looks just fine. It is a comfortable stock when shooting with no excessive rise under recoil. I'm starting to get more attached to it all the time.
