Right off the bat 7-7, with 2 turnovers and only 5 minutes into Q1.

Another burner in the making.

Make that 4 INT's!!

I just had to look who UGA was playing. Lol.

TCU vs UGA in the Liberty Bowl. Looks like TCU is even a slight favorite.

Lots of energy in every game thus far.

I do, however find these players now sitting out their bowl games in favor of the NFL draft disturbing. This is bad and can only get worse.

Could very well be the last season we see bowl games at full strength.

Not sure how disturbed I am by it.

Coaches do it often. Hot coach at a small school gets a shot at the big time and bolts before the bowl game to "get a jump on recruiting".

Bowl games for the most part are meaningless exhibition games anymore. Why should a Founette not take the time to prepare for his shot at the big time?

Perhaps but what about where the early movements advance, go beyond bowl games and players don't even finish out the regular season?

Good examples would have been Lattimore and Clowney from SC. Both could have cut their seasons short (especially had they not had bowl berths) and just sat out the remainder of the season awaiting the draft.

Bottom line it appears the mindset is that good season or bowl ending play may not advance ones position. But an injury will absolutely kill it. And that's true. But is that the least bit fair to the team? NO!

So just pick the right time and sit it out. NO!

I realize it is what it is but what if Watson (Clemson) decided to sit this next one out?

I say not a good thing.

YOMV!

It is selfish and tells the teammates (no matter what they say in support because they are expected to), "Piss on you guys, I've got mine!"

It is directly related to all of this over-hyped crap about finding a TRUE NATIONAL CHAMPION, which devalues everything that doesn't relate to it. Were the selfish players' teams in contention for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, they would damn well be playing. (This all got its real start (based on being [bleep] for its own sake without money being involved)back when Bill Walton and the boys said that they were UCLA and UCLA didn't play for third place, thereby ending the NCAA BB consolation game.) Like you say, this will only get worse, to the point where a second loss (which would end any chance for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP) seeing players pack it in, maybe even whole teams saying "screw the rest of the season" at that point. It will also inevitably trickle down to the high school level where players who have an offer from a college will leave their teammates to soldier on without them. It is amazing how we have managed to totally screw up something that was so grand.

Something so grand?

JFC.... the only thing those bowl games do is make millions for the schools. Fournette and McCaffrey are already done with college. They are not enrolled; they are not coming back. Let the kids that will be part of the team play, if they choose to do so. Fournette and McCaffrey have already made those schools plenty of money. They have prepared themselves for their careers (what college is really supposed to be about, remember). They have nothing left that they need to "give" to the ol' alma mater.

Lattimore is a great example. What, exactly, did coming back for one more season or the NCAA rule on three years out from HS before going pro get him? Blown legs, a wasted level of talent, and washed out of the NFL as a "never was".

How about the DB from ND who blew his leg last year in a meaningless bowl game that got him booted from First Round/Top Ten to...anyone remember?

How much of those millions that Notre Dame took in from that game did he see as an offset for the loss of millions to him via a contract and potentially ruining his career?

It's not about giving to the ol' alma mater; it's about giving to your teammates.

You think those guys didn't talk about this with their team?

Give them WHAT, exactly? What haven't they given them their entire college career? And, now neither of those guys is in college any longer; they aren't enrolled, they aren't coming back. They went to college to set themselves on a career, and they have done that - same as every other player on that team.

Ask yourself about Lattimore or Jaylen Ramsey or the others like them - what did they get out of giving more than they needed to in a meaningless game? What did their team give back to them for their sacrifice?

The teams get a trip and a cheap ring if they win. The schools pocket millions. The kids that blow their legs or backs or whatever else and impact their future careers get..... what again?
