Will the 6mm Creedmoor be the end of the .243 Winchester like the .243 did to the 6mm Remington?

Geeze that is funny stuff - keep it coming.
yeah with the yearly sales of the heavily market penetrated 243 it's going to disappear.
maybe 20 years from now.

I am wondering if the 25 Creedmoor is going to spell the death of the 25-08.

I've geared up for 6.5x47L and 6x47L, but haven't had the rifles built yet. I've been thinking about going the Creedmoor route, but with the RPR's reviews, I think I may just go that route with the 6.5 CM and still build the x47L's.

What are the major benefits of the 6mm Creed over the 243? Better twist rate for heavies?

The funniest sheit about this thread that some people probably believe their wild ass guesses.
Who the f*ck knows, and better yet, who the f*ck cares.
Will add though that the difference betwixt the 6mm/243 rivalry and the 243/6CM was the closeness of introduction.
Not to mention, the fcked 244 twist out of the gates.

I've got an MRC .243 with 1:8" twist and 3.125" mag box. If I am still shooting after I burn up all of my .243 brass (~20 years), I'll think about it. Not a knock on the 6CM. It just does not do anything for me that I cannot already do (and have been doing) with a .243...

I read Remington put the wrong twist on the 6mm in the beginning and never recovered from the mistake. Although the twist was corrected on subsequent barrels , they already had the reputation of being inaccurate. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...s/5177181/Whats_s_the_twist_rate_of_a_mi

I've not owned a CM yet, but suspect they would be fine. But, I do own the 6.5x47L and am now a long term fan. Works great from 2.8" box and very easy to tune. Do the CMs, but don't dismiss the x47s yet. John

No, the 6 Creed will not take out the 243.
However, it will sell well enough to become the new standard for the shooting games.
The x47 Lapuas are a better design overall, but with no major American manufacture backing them, they will remain as specialty cartridges.

Will the 6mm Creedmoor be the end of the .243 Winchester like the .243 did to the 6mm Remington? Not in my lifetime and maybe never. A parallel. The 6.5X55 is a long time cartridge. I've had mine since Dec. 11- Jan 12. I know a train load of deer hunters and a fair amount of 'shooters'. Out of all of them.......... ONE man knew what I have. I don't know of a SINGLE Solitary person in real life who has ANY idea what the 6.5 Cm is. Does that tell you anything? I don't know that I'd call them 'boutique' cartridges but they are RIFLE LOONY cartridges. IMO Jerry

If there are stacks of off the shelf match grade ammo and barrels are twisted 1:8, it's attractive.
Kimber Montana 6 Creed could be something. But like it's been said, who knows and who cares.
It is funny to see fellas get all high assed at the mention of creed vs whatever else is on a 308 case.
338 Creed will be a slayer.

I don't shoot enough or far enough for it to really matter but I'd like to own a Creed or two.
Why not?
It's not like the 243 or 270 MT's are getting replaced when it comes time to go hunting.

I remember when the WSM's were going to be the end of all corresponding belted magnums.
So my guess is no.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

If only manufacturers would twist a factory 243 properly. They would sell the snot out of em.
