Hence the reason I said christian missions.

If you're going to actually talk about LDS. You really need to start a time line of events within LDS history. By the end of the time line you'll have reduced LDS to its actual basis. Nothing but hocus pocus [bleep],originated by Joe Smith and further kicked along by Brigham Young and eventually the present leaders.

Actually, I work with a guy that went on an LDS mission. The white shirts you see wandering around town in groups of two or more.Are in groups and not alone,so that they don't try to get laid or engage in anything else worthwhile.They're instructed to rat each other out. These mormon teams are also broken up a bunch and placed with strangers so that close bonds aren't established within the group.

The coworker I mentioned was sent to brazil on mission. He ended up with a fellow mormon who had been partnered up with another mormon mission,who decided to bang a married woman. LDS didn't approve. And this guy was on probation. The banger was sent home. My coworker claims that with the cost of missions going up,more mormons are relying on donations from other mormons. Just like christian missions.

This same coworker claims that there were alot of attractive lesbians in brazil and this disgusted him. We had to reassure him that this wasn't really a bad thing.

Add me to the list of those who think Mormons are some of the finest people out there, albeit with excessively messed-up theology.

Concerning Christian who are @#$%^&'s, remember that God saves a person's soul, not their personality. What usually happens is if a person is an @#$%^& before they get saved, they are still an @#$%^& after they get saved. From what I have seen, correcting personality errors is usually something God expects us to work through and it takes time. Of course, there are always exceptions.

I am not a member of the LDS church, but I know enough of them, and know them well enough, to know: Dude, you haven't a clue!

Sure an LDS missionary falls to temptation once in a while. Nobody ever claimed they were not human.

Christians are a minority on this Earth and most of the world would make that claim about all of Christianity. Since most of the world does not believe Jesus was anything more than a great teacher and philosopher.

Simple reason for that Steelhead....Mormons don't believe in Hell. Everyone goes to Heaven in their theology. The "heathens" don't get a very happy life in Heaven and Mormons get a great life....but, everyone is in Heaven.

I would agree with most on here.....Mormons are usually very good people. I wish all Christians were as well behaved.

But, just for the record and according to the Bible....good behavior doesn't guarantee anyone salvation.....Not even a 2 or 3 year Mission Trip or weekly attendence in a church or being nice at the Post Office.

It is an interesting paradox....God wants us to be nice and behave properly, but good and respectable behavior doesn't get us to Heaven.

Sure hocus pocus [bleep] has been used to label all kinds of religions. The differance is,with LDS you have enough written documents to prove it's nothing but hocus pocus dreamed up by Joe Smith. Mainly because he started LDS in the 1800's.

Plus you don't even have to pay for them. Since its been deamed ok for you to allow the goverment to pay welfare for both your old ladies and the kids.

I would be willing to bet those written documents you speak of are completely FALSE; fabricacated by a person with a bone to pick with the church, or they may be taken out of context. with a very selective use of elipses, a person could take out half the wods in a paragraph and make it say whatever he wants it too. If you would take the time and research the stuff you know nothing about, then you might just learn something. it would make you seam like less of a troll if you knew just a tiny bit about what you came to argue.

And its JOSEPH Smith, show a little respect and curtisy for the members on the board.

Also the singling people out to make examples of the church isnt a very strong argument, 3 in 12 million isnt much of an example. People are not perfect, if we were there wouldn't have been a need for Christ to come to Earth and atone for our sins.

No nothing has been taken out of context. The court records of Joe Smith being charged with fraud for his magical stones trick,is at the begining and it continues up till the present.

I had 2 hot 7th Day Adventists show up at my doorstep about a month back. One was a black lady. They handed me a brochure and quickly bolted. I was bummed and had to read the fine print to see what it was all about. I wish I'd have invited them in for a cocktail.

Here's a partial time line

- At fourteen Smith meets a girl named Sally Chase,who has what is commonly called a peep stone or seer stone. He looks at the stone and is given a vision of a white stone,he later unearths a stone at the bottom of a tree. He'll go on to have at least three peep stones in his life.

- His carreer as a scryer or crystal gazer is launched. By 1825,he is hired by Josiah Stowell. Stowell believes he has a lode of silver on his property hidden by the spaniards. He pays smith 14 bucks a month. Double the pay a worker on the erie canal was making.

- People of the state of new york v. Joseph Smith March 1826. Found guilty of being a disorderly person and imposter. Also known as fraud. In six years of scrying. Smith had never uncovered any treasure.or money,for any client.

-In the autumn of 1823 Joseph had ethreal light fill his bedroom,followed by an angel who called himself moroni.Moroni told Joe that there were some gold plates inscribed with secret text,buried 1400 years before under a rock on a nearby hillside. He was told by moroni to leave the plates alone. Of course joe immediately unearthed the plates.He found the plates in a five sided stone box. When he tried to remove the plates from the box,they vanished into the ether and he was thrown violently to the ground.

- Thankfully moroni gives him a second chance and commanded joe to return to this same place every year on sept 22 and visit moroni for instruction. This hill is named cumorah.

- In an effort to recieve these plates,joe looks into his peep stone and is told that he must marry Emma Hale and bring her to the hill on sept 22 1827.

Even though the tablets were written in a language unknown to Joe. Moroni had given joe a pair of divinely endowed specticles(possibly the original pair of oakleys).
