That's awesome! I love the Auto Five shotguns. I have a Belgian light twenty myself. They are a John Browning classic design.

Gave my sister a little carry revolver yesterday. She has been looking for one for a while. Anyway, it was opened almost last. I made the comment that Christmas just was not Christmas unless someone gets a gun...
Several folks all around the room had to agree at once...
Nice shotgun...

My opinion the Browning Auto Five is the best Semi-Auto ever made. Especially in 20 ga and the 16 ga which is my favorite

Very nice. I started with my brother's A5 12, a very early piece with the safety on the front side of the trigger guard, when I was 13 or 14 and used it into college. It was a two barreled gun, 26" modified and a 30" full, IIRC. A gift to him from his "Godfather" when he was confirmed...

My opinion the Browning Auto Five is the best Semi-Auto ever made. Especially in 20 ga and the 16 ga which is my favorite Definitely right up there.. They are VERY well built. Main thing to watch out for is the barrel extension position (forward edge) relative to the receiver.. It needs to stay flush.. After 'so many' rounds it will begin to extend a bit and the owner will begin to get misfires.. It's due to the pounding the fore-arm's interior gets from the rebound of recoil.. The wood gets damaged and the barrel shroud begins to dig in.. Either the fore-arm must be repaired, replaced, or a $1 properly-sized O-ring will be the cure.. BTDT. Congrats on the shotgun Bobby.. Have a happy (and VERY safe) New Year.

Got the friction rings set for light loads? Also clean the magazine tube really well and very lightly oil it.

doesnt seem to care for the 7/8oz load for some reason They were never built with those loads in mind.. Maybe if you got the speed up to about 1400 they might cycle.. Still....... The A-5 is a field gun - not designed for light competition/low-recoil stuff..

My gun functions perfectly with the 7/8 ounce skeet loads as long as I have the friction rings set up correctly and the magazine tube clean and very lightly lubed. Dad used light loads for rabbits, quail and doves with his Sweet Sixteen and Light Twelve and heavier field loads for squirrels, turkeys and when shooting slugs at deer. The only time I've ever seen his Auto Five guns choke was when he neglected to switch the rings. He hunted those two A5's hard for 40 years and you could count the malfunctions in the single digit range. I had a Light Twelve that never jammed. It's reliability record is the same as my old Benelli M1, they just work every time. I'm pretty meticulous with my gun care but I hunt them hard in all sorts of weather and over the years I've never had any trouble from either one of those shotguns.
