I have seen v few Rem 14 carbines but this is the only one that I have ever seen that has a pronounced dimple on the side of the receiver where the action opens. Proto type maybe?

I've no idea what the purpose for that would be. I've never seen it either. Does it have a serial number?
You sure have an interesting collection. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Yes Grouser that is a very old Fox Sterlingworth in 20 gauge. And I'm sure you guys knew that top one. Win 1892 in 38 WCF(38-40). Not sure how long barrel is 26? octagonal

Msj348, why would that rifle have 2 safeties? Already had one behind trigger? Not easy to find factory ammo for it. I bet its not fun to shoot

I bet its not fun to shoot The 'safety' behind the trigger should just be plugged, the thumbnail safety was an added feature (and a poor one) and it was just added to existing receivers. It was not liked and was short lived, so you will also find guns with the dished out receivers for the thumb safety, but with just a standard bolt and the standard safety back in place. Here is one with a good close-up of the receiver - http://www.gunauction.com/buy/9007711

My grandpappy had one of them, wish I knew where it got to after he passed, none of the family seems to know, or they're just keeping their mouths shut cause they know I'm looking for it.
