Going to take photos and record serial numbers of guns, cameras, computers and upload to a file in Google Drive and Dropbox for insurance purposes.
Question- is it important to take photos of the serial numbers on the objects or just record the numbers in a text file and get a good photo of the object?
Thanks.

I would think that for insurance purposes it would be best if you asked your own insurance carrier that question directly.
Probably would be a good idea too to try to get it in writing with the name of the person you talked with.
Regular home owners insurance by itself doesn't necessarily automatically include coverage on everything you may assume it should/does including firearms.
I would think too that antique replacement value would likely need documented professional appraisals.
Good Luck...

Photos show the condition of the firearm. Serial numbers are the actual identification of the firearm.
I give my agent S/N, mfgr, model, caliber, caliber/chambering,or gauge. I keep a set of photos in the safe and on a USB drive in my Go Box
