Maybe check out an AR15 in 9mm. You can piece together a Palmetto upper and lower for a pretty decent price of you are patient.

My S2K hasn't been that bad but it has had it's issues. For $325 I don't consider it a "go-to" gun for anything but shooting for fun.

If you want a pistol caliber carbine that uses Glock or 1911 mags, a MechTech carbine is worth looking at. They do have their own oddities, but mine were very accurate and reliable, and I intend to get another at some point.

My JR carbine uses Glock mags and I THINK they have other options too.

I haven't played with the Chiappa but I don't have any love for non-GI M1 Carbines. The design of the M1 Carbine doesn't lend itself to inexpensive manufacture done right. Little known fact, the M1 Carbine was more expensive than the Garand during WWII. The GI guns are built right, non-GI guns; not so much.

Best 9mm carbine I've ever had is the Sterling Mk 6...just too much fun, never once malfunctioned on me.

I call this photo "The Boys From Dagenham".
