Buddy and I went and got a few rainbows for supper. Ten minutes from the house by snowmobile. Twenty-one inch pig. Caught him on a white inch and a half tube jig. Not bad way to start the season. How about you guys? Anyone on the ice yet? Happy New Year! Ted

Thats way cool....but the strangest looking Rainbow I've ever seen! Can't tell if its the picture angle or what, but something around the mouth is odd. Almost looks like part bass! Good job, nonetheless

The kids and I have been spankin the bluegills/sunfish lately, They fight over who drives the aqua view and who gets rellagated to the old fl-8 flasher.
Wish I had it that tough when I was a youngin

Buddy and myself went again today. Got wind-burned pretty good, but we iced fourteen fish; rainbows and kokanee. This was the second (and largest) that I caught. Same lake, same tube jig, slightly smaller (and prettier) fish, 20 1/2 inches. Ted

Beautiful! I may be coming through Whitehorse this spring. A friend is moving down from Dawson to Whitehorse and might need some help loading and unloading. I may have to give you a call if the trip materializes...

Will do. Last time I was in the Yukon was '98. I'm sure things have changed since then.

Going again tomorrow. Third trip, and it will be for lake trout and pike, but will be more like two hours each way.
Supposed to warm up, too.............-8C.

Shouldn't that be in the Hog Hunting forum?

Brother Bill "...but something around the mouth is odd." That's just a Canadian trout and the mouth looks odd because they have to contort their lips an awful lot to say "tube jig, eh?" art
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

Art is correct! You have to really jut out your lower jaw when you say it.............TUUUUUUUUBE Jig! Here's another picture of the same fish. The fish had two very full skeins of milt and a very pronounced kype, similar to what a salmon has when spawning. I know, I know, rainbows spawn in the spring, but this guy was Canadian, eh? Ted

We went for ling cod about thirty miles north of here yesterday and got soaked. The snow was melting so fast, that when we returned around 9:00 PM half the lake was covered with 3-4" of water. Had to keep the sleds near full-throttle all the way back to the truck. Water flying everywhere. My seven year old grandson thought it was a hoot! Good thing it was warm. Got 16 nice fish. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, poor man's lobster comin' up. Ted
