Ok, now I have gone through all the different sites concerning Remington serial numbers and on my rifle nothing seems to correspond.
It is a 300 H&H bought used by me about 1968, serial # 414xxx, has the smooth barrel, no rear sight lump and screw on rear sight .. not dovetailed.
I'm guessing late 1950s ?

Copy/Paste the following and you should be able to determine the month and year that your rifle was assembled:

Let us know what you find.

Barrel stamping on the left side are the letters T D E in that order followed by the number 14.
Right side of the barrel shows the proper proof marks.
As near as I can decipher maybe 1958 ?

Since "T" isn't a letter used in the month code scheme, I'd say that the "D" = September and the "E" = 1958.

The 12 months of the year, January thru December, are represented by the letters B-L-A-C-K-P-O-W-D-E-R-X.

Probably 1958-1962 , the straighter stock/screw on rear sight were made in this period.

I have a mint 722 .222 from this time frame with the later features. It is an awesome rifle and the straighter stock is scope friendly. It shoots very small groups.

My 721 '06 serial # 52222 was made in 1949.
