I've posted a Mauser I built in the classified section. 300jimmy has offered me a 99 E.G. Barreled action. I would like an E.G. Or R. Something that is drilled and tapped from the factory. The EG 300jimmy is offering is not D&T, but with my eyes I'll need a scope. I don't want to add holes. I'd like to request help selling my Mauser to fund the project. I'd also like to gauge interest in a 1951 E.G. ~80% blue with non factory wood/butt plate as trading stock for a different 99 that is factory D&T. Condition irrelevant as I plan on putting really nice wood on the one that I keep and having it reblued. I'd like a deer caliber and I believe in TN I need at least .243. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/11724030/Re:_WTT_for_Savage_99.#Post11724030

The Mauser was built from a bare action by me. It was built as a truck gun. I faced the action on a mandrel, and so just 2 turns on the bolt face lapping tool, a few laps with compound on the lugs. Bolt handle forged, and then hand chambered in .308. I set it back a few thousandths. Desoldered the sights, chopped an inch or 2 off the barrel to remove some slight pitting, and give it a nice crown. Closes with only the slightest slightest tension on factory federal, and Winchester rounds. It was hammered down with between 0.002"-0.003 of crush. Simple weaver 2 piece bases, low swing safety, medium rings, and a brand new never fired on Nikon Pro Staff. The stock is a sporterized Turk I did myself. The bolt is raw, the action is parkerized and the bottom metal is painted with the 600* BBQ grill paint.
I just never shot it. I built an AR, and a Winchester SXP defender, and got a sig 938 with a 10/22 to boot. I want a 99 for next years deer season, and I want the Mauser to go somewhere it will be put to use.
Thanks for looking.

That's a pretty nice action. I always wonder what the heck happened to the rest of these guns.

That'll make a nice looking rifle. I would put a lightfoot mount on it. He's a forum member. Just send him a PM. Here is a pic of one on a carbine. It uses the rear sight dovetail and the factory tang sight holes. I have them on several 99's and really like them. David

Yes, it seems for the cost of a lightfoot mount, you already have the project rifle you want. A 99 in hand is worth...way more than the potential of finding exactly what you want.
