For sale is a Pre-Garcia L61 built by Steve Lamphear.
23"bbl., SAMMI chamber, Timney trigger, Rimrock stock-olive w/black spots, 13 1/2" L.O.P. Sako mounts, weighs approx. 7 lbs. 4oz.
There are two very light rub marks visible, one on the right side of the action and the other on top of the barrel forward of the scope.
The picture with the target I shot a couple of years ago. I am assisting DZG, a longtime 24 hour campfire member and close friend in listing his rifle. The Dall ram is his, taken with the .280AI. Its a beautiful rifle in excellent condition.
Also included is a Redding Sizing Die and Competition Seating Die.
Its an extremely accurate rifle, asking $1350 shipped FFL to FFL
PMO's and Bank Checks please, PM DZG if you have any inquiries.
I'm on the good guy list......
Thanks for looking.

Thanks BlackDog1 for all your help getting this posted.

My campfire user name is DZG. I have been a member since Dec. 2007. I have always viewed the campfire as a great resource, and have read and followed many great posts and articles throughout the years. I seldom post unless I truly feel I can add to threads.

I recently retired and find myself enjoying my grandkids and reading more and hunting less. I am thankful for getting the opportunities to hunt sheep, caribou, and moose when my legs and lungs were stronger. I still enjoy hunting with my wife on occasion.

I am committed this year to pairing back some of my firearms and hunting gear. This 280 AI has been an exceptional rifle. It's pet load has always been 140g Accubonds over 62gr of Reloader 22. Please let me now if I can answer any questions you may have. Thank you.

If I knew the first thing about hand loading I'd already own this rifle. Bob - Blackdog1 actually brought this rifle over to let me fondle it - thanks Bob!! Anyway, its a heck of a rig in perfect shape, both Bob and Don DZG are good to go!!

Bob - hope all is well, need to BS guns again soon!

Bump for a screaming deal.

gene270,
I purchased the rifle complete approximately 11 years ago. It is a Chromolly barrel and I believe is a 1/9 twist. The stock is the original stock that came with the outfit. I believe it to be a Rimrock stock. The weight is approximate without the scope. It carried a Vari X III 2.5 x 8 to Alaska on my sheep hunt and was just over 8 lbs all up. Thank You.

Oregonmuley, thanks for the kind words. Hopefully in the future we will get another chance to hunt together. Terry and I throughly enjoyed our last trip together. Spring Chinook are coming up soon, let's get out together.

nimrodtracey, I never had the opportunity to meet Steve, I purchased the rifle 11-12 years ago from a private party. It has been an exceptionally accurate, quality rifle. Many fond memories. Thank you, Don

I lost touch with him but Steve was a perfectionist and did not know when to quit when building a rifle, I think that is why he got out of rifle smithing and moved to the mountains.
