Where did this term Truckie come from? It's a misspelling. It actually refers to Truckee, an area above Lake Tahoe.... Truckee Meadows, Truckee River, etc.

Which other old-timers remember when the truckers were the most courteous drivers on the road?
They've been the biggest a-holes for over 30 years, around here!
And I'm sure many are not - BUT - it seems the drivers for the biggest companies are the worst, while the independent truckers are very careful. (I guess "skin in the game" counts)

If you watch carefully, when the idiot was passing {0 sec.} He was in the far right lane. As he passed the plow he drifted to the left. Probably giving the finger to the plow. Then swerved back to the right after he ran him off the road at to fast of speed. He either did it on propose, {I think so} or...
Been on the receiving end of idiots with drivers license's. Plowed for 37 years, Seen a lot.

haven't been on that stretch of road in bad weather, but went thru there several times this past summer and fall...
and I have to tell ya.... some of the truckers on that stretch of road were just insane... its an old US route that has sorta been kinda made into 4 lanes or so thru a lot of it....
traveling in both directions, east and west this summer, I had trucks with Utah plates loaded down and some pulling doubles, pass me on that road running 85 and 90 mph....
and that is being based on me running it at about 70 to 75 in spots....
its one of those stretch of roads that Truckers just seem to think they own the darn thing....
it ain't a safe stretch of highway at all....
