many times and do own... a few. the ultralight model is only avail. w/ the wood stock unfortunatly. the scout rifle is great but due to the long rail a conventional scope has to be too highly mounted to clear the obj bell. thinking alont the lines of a synthetic. good suggestion though.

the scout rifle is great but due to the long rail a conventional scope has to be too highly mounted to clear the obj bell. . Wrong. Up to a 40mm scope fits in Medium rings for an excellent cheek weld on the scouts. The Steyr Scout works best with a conventional scope...........................DJ

savage 99f..... reliable, handy, great trigger, easy to shoot well, mechanically very accurate.....
i own harder hitting rifles... i own more accurate rifles... i own rifles that are more accurate, and hit harder.... the savage is the one most likely to be carried when light and handy enter the picture.... i almost don't go anywhere without it anymore..... john w

Weatherby Ultralight Weight weighs 5.75lbs.in standard LA calibers I think.Mine shoots very good in 270Win. HS makes the stock with aluminuim bedding block and Kreiger makes the 24" fluted barrel.I've been very pleased with the gun.

back when tikkas were in the low $400 i looked at one. the bolt is just kinda loos feeling compared to the steyrs. as far as price goes the last few steyrs i bought were $650 w/ VXII, $550 shipped, 600 shipped with dies and ammo and im tring to get one right now for $500. show me were i can get one of those $300 tikkas and i will get a few. whats the weight on a short action Finnlight?

Savage Sierra lists at 6.25 lbs and has the accutrigger. The ain't real pretty rifles but in my limited experience they shoot great.

I have gone to the T/C Encores and the G2s. Stainless steel with composite factory stocks. Shorter with no bolt and lighter as action is smaller in size. Wood and laminate stocks as a bunch of weight.
