Or, a license for that species!! Many years ago, I had to watch a Mountain Lion walk away, because I failed to purchase a license before going elk hunting! mad memtb

I used about the last of my whammy's. Gotta make some more. Why someone would buy such a simple thing is beyond me. I make all of my snares, from 1/8" cable. Too damn simple to buy pre-made.

My wife got into my peat moss, barely had enough left.

I know our local deer, I have a LOT of cameras otu year round on our property.

I have not lost a fawn that I can't account for in almost 7 years. Mostly they get run over on the highway.

I did loose 2 this spring about the time we had two 700 year flood events of close to 18 inches of rain at one time, in under 24 hours each, 30 days apart.

I'm not sure what keeps em from it. I 've seen em chasing the larger ones later in the year but its to late by then.

Guess I"m lucky but I shoot more skunks and possums and coons that try to hang around the bird feeders than I ever worry about coyotes. Same goes with bobcats.

But the wild cat population takes a heavy toll on the local birds, we shoot all of those we see.

Lots. Even finally back to seeing jackrabbits again which had been scarce since the 90s.

Went coyote hunting this morning, all I saw was a HUGE 4x4 that walked out and bedded down about 150 yards from me.

Go figure

I'd go myself but I'm tied up caring for the wife right now. I only get a couple hours away when my son is home.

Sans rifle is usually when I'll see wolves to far off for the G30 and without anyway to adaquately close the distance. I feel your frustration. Don't know the laws where you are, but I'd have at least given it a whirl. 60 really isn't that far to hit minute of coyote, especially witha full mag. Just have to act quick before they start running.

I live in the city, but take vicarious pleasure in having friends in the country. I give them rifles to put in the truck. I tell them if the rifle is stolen, i will give them another.

I am 65 and have shot one coyote in 1991.

We got two downpours today. I couldn't get out there until mid afternoon. All four dirt hole sets washed out, reset and rebait. 4 of the 5 snares blown right off the whammy's, reset those too.

BANG!! one down on the dirt hole set. The 9x18 P 64 ended her quick. About 40-45 pounds. Even if I wanted the hide it was rubbed all to hell.

How she pulled the 15" Berkshire 4" out of the ground I don't know. Never seen that before. I pulled it, took the trap and made another set 20 yards away with a new trap.

I miss trapping but I simply do not have the time to run a line.

I figure the male having lost his mate, and likely seeing her in the trap, probably will move on or be so careful I don't get him.

Got home today, big pig down by tank. Gone before I could get a rifle.
