I am looking to buy a custom rifle or at least semi custom, in 7mm-08. This would be for my teenage daughter to hunt with (whitetail, exotics, mulies etc).
There are a few out there that I have been researching but want to hear some opinions.
Cooper Jackson, The new Christensen Mesa, HS Precision, Montanna Rifle Co,etc. Budget for rifle is no more than $2500. I'll probably sell a Weatherby Mark V Custom Deluxe (7mm Weath.Mag) to help fund the purchase.
Open to many other brands. Any ideas??

Need it in the next 2 months. Basically I want a real "shooter" that she can use on multiple different types of species/ terrains. I will sell a couple of my guns to make it happen!
No adoption, I've put my time in!

Add LAW to the list. They are the best I've seen in a while for the price($1500ish). I know I've spent way more for rigs that don't look any better than the LAWs I've handled lately. I'm surprised they are priced as low as they are.

Both the Cooper and the Law Professional look good. Or a Kimber Montana and spend the rest on quality optics. Same with a Tika T3 lite. My Montana Rifle Co Extreme x2 in 260 Rem is a fine rifle just not as lite the Tika or Kimber.

The new Barrett Fieldcraft would be worth considering.

Almost mentioned the Barrett but don't think availability falls in the 2 month time frame. Are they in fact on dealers shelves? I've not found them as of yet.

Better hurry if you want the LAW professional, it has been discontinued, now it's the CAPRA and the Bobcat. Ronnie

Given your parameters, have you considered one designed for women? Like the Vanguard Camilla? I realize it's a custom though.

Some makers don't handle shorter LOPs. PS - I ended up getting my wife a T-3X Superlite and spending another $100 to get the stock shortened and a decel pad installed.

I would look hard at a Howa Alpine with the floor plate in lieu of the butt ugly extended magazine. It comes with a Hi Tech stock & cerakoted..It also comes in 6.5 creed which will be a little less recoil but plenty for the game you mentioned.
PASS IT ON!

So why do you want a custom or semi-custom rifle? You could get a rifle that shoots like this: 7mm-08, 140 Partitions Get the bolt fluted and replace the plastic bolt shroud: And give it different furniture (this is a B&C, if you have the dough go McMillan): High end Swarovski scope or some such and she's set. P
Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

With your time-frame I'd look for a good used rifle.

Well- The rifle that really spoke to me after researching was the LAW. That being said with my time frame, I decided to buy a Remington CDL, shorten the stock by half and inch, trigger job, decel pad, and put a vx3 - i 3.5-10x40 on it. Thank you for all of your input. The reviews on this rifle are pretty good so we will try it first for this year. If it doesn't work the way I hope- The LAW will get some serious attention. I'm also anxious to see what the reviews of the Christensen Mesa look like after a year or so..........
