I have an old set of 8x42 Nikon monarchs and I'm looking to upgrade. I need some hands on real life experience advice. I've looked at several at the store but honestly I can't tell much difference if any between the $200 set and the $1000 set. Curious how different they would be in low light situations. Really like the feel of the vortex diamondbacks and razors.

I bought a pair of Vortex Diamondback 8x42 last summer, and couldn't be happier with them. I've never used high end binoculars, but the Diamondback served me well. Can't beat their warranty, either.

markhammett,

Last year I bought some Nikon Monarch 7 8X32. They are truly unbelievable for their price of $345. Just something to think about.

I'm gonna keep the nikons. Mainly want a second pair for the wife, but I want them to be as good or better than the nikons.

Zen Ray HD First Gen before they were everywhere for sale. Had to buy them direct when I bought them. I bought them after tons of reading mostly on the birdwatcher forums.

Here is the latest version:

I have some 15x Leica RF that I bought for my 50th last year and am still pleased with my 8x43 ZenRays. Not saying there aren't optic differences only that I am picky.

Our Toric 8x42's and 10x42's will be back in stock in a few weeks, you may want to take a look at them. For $650 you're getting $1200+ quality.

Great way to save some money and get that premium performance. I've said it quite a bit and stand by it, they are just as good if not better than the Razor in optical performance and even rival the SLC's in some areas.

Have you sent one to Mule Deer (John Barsness) for review yet?
