Alright guys I'm putting together a 264 win mag to play with. What's your guys favorite loads for from antelope to elk. Been about 10 years since I've played with one.

I have and shoot an Extreme Weather Model 70 in 264 Win Mag and the load I use the most is 70.1 grains of Ramshot Magnum behind a 127 grain Barnes LRX with a WW case and Fed 215M primer.

I always used 140gr Hot-Cor's.

125gr Partition and 7828 for deer. tell us about the rifle. pics would be nice...

It's just pieces right now. Brux #3 8.5" twist. Probably cut at 25" not sure yet. Remington 700 action and will be in a mcmillan. The wife thinks it's going to be her rifle but time will tell

Sounds nice! I'd go with 26", just because that's what yer s'pposed to have with a 264

I cut my Pac-Noy at 27 in.

I settled on 140 gr Sierra spbt with H1000 at 3050 fps in the original Win barrel.

The new Pac-Nor gets a sready diet og 130 gr Accubonds with Magnum for 3300 fps.

My favourite load was the 130 gr Swift Scirocco and enough Retumbo to reach 3200 fps from a 24" barrel. I did have it up to 3300 fps but decided that 3200 fps was plenty for me since it grouped so well. The Scirocco seems to generate more pressure than other 130's so start low and work up carefully. I'm experimenting with the 155 and 156 gr bullets these days, and treating it kind of like a 7 mm RM just for fun. A sleek 130-140 gr bullet makes the 264 WM shine.......

You will be just fine if you decide to cut it at 25" so I wouldn't worry about that. One of the things I really like about the 264 WM is how much less it kicks than a 7 mm RM. I'm sure both you and your wife will appreciate that. My experience with W-W brass is it wasn't very good when it comes to run out, more than likely you will need to sort it or even better just buy Nosler or Norma brass.

I tried several powders in my 26" Win 70 sporter. 7828, Magnum, RL 26 - none gave me the accuracy and fps I was looking for.
Thought about slower powders 869 had too many reports of temperature sensitivity, couldn't find and H50BMG but I did find RL33.
In my rifle, that was the ticket. 142gr NABLR running a touch over 3200 and 3 shot groups in the .35 range and 5 shot groups around .4.
As gerrygoat pointed out, the recoil is much lighter than my old 7mm Mag and less than my Mtn rifle 30-06!

I ran loads through Rem and WW brass but found my best targets were with the Nosler brass. (they have/had some on sale at SPS)

I think the 264 with 140's has less recoil than a 7 mag with a 140 grain bullet.

I have two ruger stainless model 77s .They have very short throats in them and limit what bullets you can shoot .I use Remington 140 grain corelocks but they don't shoot super good about 1.5 inches at 100 yards .I really like lapua 155 grain mega tip bullets .They shoot clover leafs in my gun.I use h870 and federal 215 primers .I really like these guns .I wish I had a 28 inch Weatherby accumark in 264 win mag.That would be awesome!Those 155 grain mega tips are the best bullets for larger than deer for the 264 win mag!

I've been focused on trying to get the 130 NAB to shoot well out of my M70 Super Grade. For now, using Re-33 (which has slowed my progress due to no published data that I can find).

My Remington 721 has a 30 inch Shilen barrel with 1 in 8 twist. It loves the lighter bullets. 72gr of H4831 pushes a sierra 100gr HP at 3689fps. For deer and smaller. 85gr sierra HP with 73gr H4831 at 3839fps for rock chucks. Have pushed the Woodleigh 160gr PPSN to 3269fps but pressure signs. Moose load.
