All their stuff had their big, ugly-azz full-color bright-as-the-fugking-sun logo Have always fought that. If they want me to advertise for them, then give me the product.

I'll be dropping that card. Fug Capital One. No kidding! They're the worst of the worst...almost criminal in their deception and practices. Cabela's will soon cease to exist, I believe. They were already becoming too Walmartish and went to selling only fast moving merchandise and less or no harder to find items a lot of us look for, like European type ammo, 16 gauge shells, metric brass and components.

pretty much kicked them both to the curb a lot of years ago. Generally better options out there.

I don't spend alot of time at either one, just opened a Cabelas within driving distance about a year ago and I've already bought 2 guns from them, and waiting for them to put the Remington 700 VDL on sale. Sounds like I'm there all the time but I would stop on the weeks I had to travel to Detroit and just throw a box of ammo in the back. Made the mistake of looking at guns while I was there.
But since then I've found a local gun shop who has as good or better prices on the popular guns.
I suspect Cabelas and Bass Pro are about the same in everything else - clothing, tackle, etc so I don't even bother looking - I didn't care for BPS prices and other than the bargain cave (which some Cabelas don't have I found out) I don't bother looking there.
Cabelas does sell used guns which I've never found a BPS to do, but Cabelas used gun prices are a motivator to buy a new gun from them.

I'll tell you what Scheels now reminds me of Cabelas 15 years ago.
They hire experienced people who know how to address questions. They don't screw you over if you are trading in a gun when buying a new one. They don't blink an eye if you say you need to order a gun - no special buyer. They don't charge crazy prices for used rifles, they move them. They have great stock in the store, vs. everything you don't need.
I didn't try thier store for 1.5 years after they built it here in Kansas City, but that has changed based on great customer experience, good prices, and good in-stock piece parts.
Anymore I would put Cabelas stock at the Bass pro level, and Bass pro has caught up with them and is outpacing them.

Lots a chinese chit, and high prices.
I try hard to NOT buy chinese chit. I will not even buy a chinese lock washer for my business.
Never bought a gun from either. Not much for big box stores of any flavor.
Go to cabbalas 1-2 times a year.......if they are lucky.
Wifey bought some concealed carry shirts there a while ago,........ acceptable. .

Last year I got a Gift card for 100 bucks for Bass Pro.. It took me all year to find something buy from them... I walked out feeling like I just got raped....A 100 dollar Bass Pro card will get you about 25 bucks worth of over priced stuff at Bass Pro...I told my kids no more Bass Pro cards just give me 25 bucks its worth more.. Might be able to use your Bass Pro card at Cabelas..... I was given a Dick's Sporting Goods and a Field & Stream gift cards.... was at F & S cashier saw I had a Dick's gift card said they would take both....

I have used the Cabela's points from the card over the years to purchase a couple of guns on points alone. Will miss that.

I really like Cabelas and their label. I absolutely cannot say the same for Bass Pro. This merger may just drop me as a customer. +1

If Capital One does get regulatory approval then I am gone. Not that they will care as I carry no balance and just have the Club card to get a few $ to spend on stuff I want.
Never lived in an area with a BPS so have no opinion based in fact on them but it sounds like a lot of you folks don't care much for either company.

I can get bass pro cards at discount prices through a points program with my credit card. I hope that translates over to cabelas in the future. Much better stuff on their website and in their stores. Love the bargain cave, found lots of great deals on scratch and dent stuff through the years.

I can't imagine a more anti-competitive merger. Modeled on Big Oil.

I live within 40 miles of a Cabela's and 8 miles of a Sportsmans Warehouse. Scheel's is putting in a large store about 1 mile from the SW which I believe will just kill the SW; but that's competition. Store to open in September!

Me and Cabela's got off to a pretty rocky start when they came into Fort Worth, but I came to appreciate certain things about doing business with them. Unfortunately, one of those things was their being unlike Bass Pro when it comes to price tags, so if they collude on pricing I'll have to quit going in there. It's not like it's really convenient anyway, dealing with traffic in this part of the state (you're behind weenie suckin 18-wheelers EVERYWHERE you go). I think I'd rather be shot at than drive to Cabela's.

I have a BPS a few miles from my home. Will drive right past them to go to my LGS. What the LGS don't have I will gladly go to Cabelas, mainly clothes. BPS and Gander Mountain don't count me as a customer.
Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!
They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.

Cabelas generally is a bit high for me but they do occasionally have a good buy , plus I really like the herters shotshells especially the pretty purple ones. I hope BPS continues with the shells
